What is the model of your Linksys rotuer? How many computer and devices are connected? Who is your internet service provider? Are all the devices offline? It appears the connection between the Linksys and the modem is not working.
Try a different LAN cable.
Check the LAN cable from the modem to the Linksys, it should be connected to the WAN/Internet port on the Linksys.

You can never have too much security, however there are some firewalls that will not work with hardware firewalls, that includes the all Linksys Routers .
