Chamberlain troubleshooting
The problem is with the infrared sensor cameras! You must check to see that both cameras have their led lights lit, if not you can position the one that does not have its light on which is called the receiver , The receiver receives a signal from the sending infrared camera and if it is not positioned correctly it will not receive a signal forcing you to hold down the wall station button . The reason for this is a built in security feature letting you know the sensors are not aimed at each other properly ,once you have an indicator light on both sides your opener should work fine and you wont have to stand their holding the button until the door closes ...Hope this helps you , good luck Glenn
Liftmaster 1255lm
You can use any switch as long as the rating on it is the same or better, and it fits the mounting brackets, hole etc. Or relocate it someplace else if you like, as long as you do it safely.
How to change code on the garage door opener and the remote control on a lift master garage door opener
If you have a 315MHZ LiftMaster Garage door opener do the following:
Follow the purple wire (Antenna) up and you will see a square purple button.
Press and hold the square purple button for ten seconds until the amber led goes out.
Press and release the purple button one time (The amber led will come on solid).
Press and hold the button on the garage door opener remote control for two seconds (The light bulb on the garage door opener will blink and you will hear a click sound the amber led will go off).
to program the wireless keypad do the following:
Press and release the purple button one time (The amber led will come on solid).
Enter a four digit code into the keypad then press and hold the enter button for two seconds (The light bulb on the garage door opener will blink and you will hear a click sound the amber led will go off).
Liftmaster GDO goes up 1/2 way and stops, springs are fine.
The Liftmaster openers have 4 movement switches, a )opening and b) closing limit and c) opening and d) closing force. First check the door for smooth operation by opening the door by hand (disconnect from the opener with the release cord). Any binding should be felt this way. It is possible for a binding hinge, roller or torsion springs to add too much drag and cause the force switch to shut off the motor. Hinges, roller shafts and torsion springs should be lubricated at least annually with a non oily spray (silicone or teflon spray). Not WD-40 or 3-in-1! A light band of lube should be applied to the torsion spring coils. If the door can be operated smoothly by hand, then adjust the closing force switch 1/4 turn at a time. This is a safety device do not use it to overcome another problem!
Sometimes door will open other times it will open but won't close...this happens with both cars and keypad...I have ruled out batteries
Ok then what you might want to do is reprogram everything! On the keypad give yourself a new code without using any of the same numbers you used before, the reason for this is the contacts on the buttons you pushed for years are not making good contact ...so if you had code 1234 your new code would be 5678 , you see ! those contacts are in great shape and will transmit your code signal like it was brand new ! Now on the remotes nowadays we all use 3 button remotes because most people have more then 1 car garages...Heck I have 3 garages , but anyway if you have one of these remotes just program another button instead of the one your pressing everyday, this also gets worn out ! Remotes have small circuit boards that have a micro actuator switches that can wear out, Remember to clear your present codes on your garage door opener before doing so , This is a way of using what you have without having to replace everything , If for some reason this is not your problem then try extending your antenna from your garage door opener....This helps extend the range of the transmitter to the receiver and this has also worked at times , if all else fails then your problem is most likely with the logig board on the garage door opener , Hope I was able to help you , Good luck .Glenn
Remote does not work unless I am in the garage.
hello emar... check to be sure that the little wire antenna is hanging down from the back of the garage door opener motor. Then check it. If it still won't work from outside, install new batteries.
If that doesn't do it, remove the new batteries and use the eraser end of a common pencil to clean the battery contacts inside the remote. then reinstall the new batteries and try it again.
HOW DO I FIND INTERFERENCE OUT SIDE
From what you say something is interfering with your remote. This is a hard one to fix and there is no one solution. If you know an amateur radio operator ask his help.
First I would turn off all computing devices (UPS's included) to see if that resolves the problem. If not Turn off all breakers except the one with the lift master. If that resolves the problem turn on items one by one. When you find the circuit you need to disconnect each item one by one until the problem goes away.
If not check for other items on the same circuit and battery operated devices such as other remotes, phones ..etc. If that does not resolve the problem then it is probably one of your neighbors.
See if others have openers operating in the same frequency area and are they having troubles.
Try:
http://transition.fcc.gov/Bureaus/OPP/working_papers/oppwp38chart.pdf to see what operates on what frequency. There is also the possibility of harmonics from 100 MHz.
You may also want to contact LiftMaster.
Engine won't program a new remote
Please clarify your question ! What do you mean by engine? The remote sends a signal to the logic board that syncs up with it, make shure they are the same frequency so if the logic board is 315 MHz the receiving board should be the same , don,t think because they look alike that they are , please check the data tag on the opener and on the garage door opener to make shure that the frequency is the same !
