It is possible that the battery in the tablet has gone bad, but it is MUCH more likely that you have a bad charging cable. Try charging another device with the questionable cable and see if the problem continues or buy a new cable and see if that solves the problem.

I have an RCA Voyager 2 and I had the same problem,I pressed the reset button on the back of my tablet. if you choose to do this make sure you sync all of your data on to another device because you will loose all your information if you don't because resetting it brings it right back to the state it was in when you first purchased it.
