ERROR 43? Check your SATA connection.
HERE'S HOW I FIXED MINE.
(IE. Computer tries to install driver for BD burner, but ultimately fails, and gives the message. "Unsuccessful" and/or "Microsoft Windows stopped device. Error 43")
The SATA CONNECTION on my BD burner's EXTERNAL CASE had gone bad.
TO TEST IT. I used a SATA/IDE to USB Adapter Cable I bought for about $10 on amazon.
- I unscrewed the external case to get at the internal drive, and plugged the SATA adapter cable directly into the internal BD burner drive (bypassing the case assembly), and plugged the other end into my computer USB port.
- PS My BD burner POWER was working OK, so I left the big white 4pin power adapter connected to the original external case.
VOILA! Both my laptop and my desktop PC recognized the LG BD burner again and assigned it a drive letter (like it used to do).
- Now I either need to (1) Buy a NEW EXTERNAL case ($10 - $30), (2) install it as an internal drive (could get problematic if "ANYDVD" is installed) or (3) just leave it connected via the cheap adapter cable.
It's super EASY (& inexpensive) to TEST this before spending $$$$ on a new equipment.
Hope this helps someone. It had me miffed for a while there.
