You may have hidden or locked files. If the files are locked, you'll see an icon to unlock them when you open the JumpDrive in Windows Explorer. If the files are hidden, try and show them: Tools-->Folder Options-->View--> Left Click "show hidden files and folders" Good Luck!

My usb is not being recognized when i put it in

Files on a flash drive can be corrupted if it is not removed from the USB port properly.
Before removing the flash drive click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon and then click on the flash drive you want to remove and then remove the flash drive when the computer message says it is Safe to remove.
To restore the flash drive you may need to format the flash drive, but you will lose the data stored on the flash drive.
If you need the data on the flash drive these WEB sites may help: -

I formated my system with the flash drive in it

the problem is the Operating System is trying to assign the flash drive a drive-letter that is already assigned. For example it is trying to assign the drive-letter "D" which is already your cd drive. If you right click on the "My Computer" icon and select "Manage" then select "Disk Managment" you can change the assigned drive letter of the flash drive to a un used drive letter. Once you do this the Operating System should be able to see and use the flash drive.

USB memory stick won't open.

Test the USB on a different computer, PC or Mac.If the stick is working on a different computer, remove mac battery (if macbook) and unplug mac from power. This can fix problems related to electrostatic charges on USB connectors. If that does not work, then the USB is corrupted. You may have lost your data, If memory is not even detected by Mac and computers, then the recovery software does not work.free usb recovery mac osx downloadMac data recovery software

Hi, My Lexar Jump drive 16GB suddenly quit

Have you tried putting the flash device into another USB port? That will help me see what the problem might be.

When I put the usb in the computer does not see

One or more of the hints below will probably sort out most USB problems with most USB portable / external hard drives and OTHER devices (though not always)

A few things to check but assumes USB and Windows for other interfaces / operating systems (mac/ Linux) similar steps may be adapted to suit.

1. Ensure it is connected directly to the computer to a USB 2.0 port not a USB 1.0 port as this can have effects on performance and reliability

2. Use only the cables that came with it NOT one that fits that may have been lying around or is longer. Not all USB cables are equal even though they should be)

3. Do not connect through an external USB HUB unless that hub is USB 2.0 AND has its own power supply.

4. Use ONLY the power supply that came with it if it has an external power supply Don’t use any other unless you know it has both the same voltage and current rating e.g. 12V 500mA anything rated below that would not work properly.

5. Always use the same port for connecting your devices. Some devices do not like being switched about. If switched they may want to install software / drivers again. This can be especially true if you move a HUB to another port
6. For FLASH DRIVES you should ensure that the device is set for "quick removal" using the drive control panel properties or use the USB "Safely Remove Hardware" option. If you dont do this there is a very strong chance that any files you transfer may not be there when you plug into another computer.

If you checked and fixed anything there and still have issues then check your hardware from CONTROL PANEL / SYSTEM / HARDWARE.
Any exclamation marks by hardware need fixing before you investigate any further

USB flash drives can fail for no apparent reason.
Sandisk Cruzers are especially bad for this.

USB hard drives should be treated with extreme care.
This is a real hard drive ! and knocks and bumps can quite literally kill them.

It is possible to remove drives from the enclosures in most cases and connect directly inside a PC to fully check it.
You should also do this to cheack the drives connections are not bad inside the enclosure

Note that if you hear a drive clicking or pinging this could be the worst thing you would hear.
Known as "The Click Of Death"

If none of the above steps help look at updating the drivers from the manufacturers web site in the support section.

Mp3 player reporting i/o problem

The Input/Output or I/O error is usually a pretty bad error on any Disk or Flash drive! It looks that this I/O error might have corrupted your media player drive directory (commonly know as FAT table).
Confirm the problem by trying to plug your device in a different USB port on your PC/Laptop: if you are still getting the I/O error, you can try to repair your player drive by using Open Windows Explorer -> Properties -> Tools -> Error-Checking facilities.
If Error-Checking cannot repair your drive, then you will unfortunately have to re-FORMAT your device Flash drive and loose everything on that drive (hope you have a good backup on your PC/Laptop)!

If nothing happens then do this. go to Start--> Run and type "devmgmt.msc" without quotes and enter. Then device manager will open , now connect ur memory card and look for scan for hardware changes menu . click that and scan . now u will find if any new hardware components are fixed to your computer or not. Then your memory card will be detected.

Memory Error Message

There is a white switch on the side of those sticks, and make sure it is not in write protected mode. If that doesn't work, I am sorry to say that stick might of went bad. Before giving up I would take to a professional film place and have them take a look to see if they can get them off w/o formatting.

Usb keeps ask for formatting why? please

On brand new USB disks sometimes, from value companies, they may require a formatting, I assume it is a new USB memory stick, allow it to format to "NTFS" if that is not an option let it format to "FAT32" Hope this helps.

When I plug in my Lexar memory stick, and try to

Hi, Neil.

Look in "My Computer" to see if another drive letter was created when your memory stick was plugged in. Sometimes, another drive letter is created. Try dragging and dropping the file you want to save.

In case you are not aware, in each computer, the drive letter for a memory stick could be different, depending how a computer is set up.

Also, try in another computer to see how your memory stick works (if it's OK).

Hope this helps.
