Wiring a leviton 5641 so fan & light turn on separate with red & black wires

the 5641 is a dual switch for three way and single pole. If you want the switches to operate the CF. Connect the power to one of the two screws on the right side as you face the switch. then connect one wire to the screw on the bottom left side. connect the other screw to one of the two screws on the top left. This assumes the Red and Black you mentioned are the switch legs going to the CF.

I have a bedroom switch controlling a ceiling fan (separate speed switch) and a wall switch going to an outlet. I can't get the outlet to work with the wall switch. The fan works fine

You need to verify if there are two wires coming to the wall switch from the receptacle. One should be power in, the other should be power out to the receptacle.

2 yr old softub Hot tub with connected GFI wire

Either the GFI is bad or it is tripping because there is a short in the system (obviously, right). I would turn off your panel break, disconnect the GFI and using a meter test to see if there is a short in the system. You would check the hot lead coming from the GFI to the tub and see if it is shorting. If you can't find a short, you should try replacing the GFI. If there is a short then you need to search for the short. Hope this helps and good luck!

Installing Leviton 5601 single pole switch to replace an old timer switch. The box has two black wires and one white wire. How do I connect to Leviton switch?

Dear Dean, Generally speaking, black indicated "hot", like the color of "burnt". White indicates the color of ground. ( ice or snow) One of your black wires should be "incoming" ( that means have electricity in it NOW", and the other one would go to where the item was that was timed. After you find which wire is "hot", the other black wire goes to the opposite side of the switch. You may need to reverse the black wires if it is wired backwards to the ":on" & "off" readings. The ground would be the white wire. If you have a green screw, the ground (white) could go there.

Leviton Home Network Patch Panel Question

Unless your switch is very, very different from all the other switches I have used, simply connecting the ports to live systems is all you need to do. Have you tried this? It may be that the patch panel is not wired, and that is kind of a pain.

tip

GFCI wont RESET

unplug everyting that's plugged in to all the outlets on that circuit (which that GFCI controls), and then press the RESET button. It should work. If NOT, unplug it all as above, and then disconnect each receptacle. (be careful that no power is being sent to any of them and that noone touches the wires because it will start working after this). then reconnect the GFCI receptacle only and see if you can press the RESET button then. if so, then you know one of the outlets on that circuit has an issue. connect them each one by one and test if you can reset after each one. If you can, then you know which receptacle it is. try reconnecting that one again, there's a good chance it will work as you have just tightened the wires. if not, then you have a more serious problem, possibly a short somewhere in the wall. i'm not an electrician, but i just had this problem and this tip was passed on to me by a friend and it worked.

Wire occupancy sensor to control receptacle

Your description doesn't explain the circuit, the function of the wires or how the switch controls the outlet and whether the switch is a single pole or two-pole switch. Without such details it is difficult to visualise the circuit. I advise before you go further to test the sensor in a known good and correctly wired outlet using a length of cable and a suitable plug for the outlet. It is possible the unit is faulty. If it functions correctly on test you will need to understand the circuit and the function of the wires before you rewire it to assure success.

The switch has a place for the ground, the blue load wire, and the black line wire, but I don't see how I connect the white neutral line that is in the box in my wall. what do I do with the neutral?

Philip, you may want to consult an electrician, have you got the right switch, what is it switching, etc. Some times whites are marred ( pig tailed to another wire) and sometimes they are marred to another white. consult an electrician
