no disk told but cd-r and dvd-r nor BD-R ,can not be erased they are a one time burn, dvd-rw is , eraseable. and rewireable to burn bunch of mp3 music or songs or whatever use free Imgburn. ive done so 1000 of times, for vast reasons, no just mp3.

why ask this,? and not tell what is wrong , did you lose the panel no story told at all and for sure there is always some story. we are forced to guess it? first off NO OEM (99%) does not document these jacks or have schematics. not tell how the SENSE pins work. at all. they are considered Proprietary (secret) some top made works stations by dell or HP do tell the names of pins, but only on older workstations and not cheap PC. why not ask them on their web site, talk to all Lenovo users there. my guess the panel is lost and the PC will not run with it lost and the mobo header jacks are not documented to this lost panel. or what is your story.

(SOLDER DOWN BATTERY) THIS MEANS I ASSUME, THAT SMALLER SCREEN MODEL 14.1-inch screen model? "SAYS SIMPLY REPLACE IT" USES NORMAL COIN CELL. BUT THAT DOES NOT MATTER AT ALL AS ETHER KIND ARE NO GOOD AT 15 YEARS OLD EVER. ERROR CODE 0250? FROM BIOS IS COIN DEAD. The cmos coin cell battery must be replaced, if this old. the coin or the solder down model 15.4" the PC must run on AC power, no HUGE battery instelled and 15.4": model the coin is rechargeable and soldered down. the manual tells you shop service needed for the 15.4" model the 14" is easy fix. if handy with a screw driver. here is the 14" solder down ML1220 battery SD, n200 real., see the blue rim (bingo soldered down)

In case of your Lenovo laptop the easiest method would be using software from Hiren's Boot CD as it's pretty hard to open it up and reach for the CMOS battery or the jumper and I wouldn't recommend doing it especially if it's under warranty.

When you say "you fixed the thingy" (ac jack), how did you fix said "thingy", did you open the laptop and replace the damaged/broken "thingy"? Need more info. Perhaps the "thingy" isn't fixed? Try remove any DVD,CD, USBs from the laptop, removing the "thingy" , remove the battery, Hold down the on/off button for 10 seconds, replace the battery, replace the "thingy" push the on/off button. That said, When you fixed the "thingy" was ALL power removed from the laptop AC plug, Battery, If not a short may have occurered.

you are required to check weather the thermal paste that is in between the cpu and the heat sink is functioning properly. it's function is based on how wet the thermal paste is .if its dry you need to replace it ..Also check the RAM for the purpose of the screen display

If its windows media player that isn't playing the dvd's then you'll need to go here and get the latest version of windows media player and also get the latest codecs.

If you have a different dvd player that came with your laptop, then use the other dvd software and see if you can play your dvd that way.

once you insert the dvd in your laptop,it should asking you what to do in a box.You can choose to play the media and etc.If there is no box pop up,you can try open media player like cyberlink dvd or vlc player, go to file >open media from your dvd player.

install the newest vlc player. copy and paste the line below into the url box:

when installing, click on all the file types and install, and it should play the dvd.
i personally would uninstall powerdvd as well, cos vlc plays just about anything i throw at it.
