The pilot is off and I don't have the manual. How
You will need to find the gas valve. Open up the lower section of the fireplace and look foe a small cube of aluminum with a knob on it that says On-Off-Pilot. Turn the knob to the Off position by lining up the word with a small dot or line indicator on the body of the gas valve. Then turn the knob to the Pilot setting. You will know when you are in the correct setting because you will be able to depress the knob into the gas valve body. Hold the knob depressed and click the larger red button. It will snap so don't be startled. Continue to hold the knob in while looking between the logs for a blue flame. If you don't see one, keep snapping the red button. Once you see the flame, continue to hold the knob depressed for 30 seconds or so. Release the knob and make sure the flame stays on. If it does not, repeat nthis procedure and hold down the knob for 45 seconds. If the flame continues to go out, you need a new thermocouple. Once the flame stays lit, rotate the knob to the On setting. The main burner should start within 15 seconds.

Electric fireplace does not heat
I have a cheap electric fireplace bought in SuperCentre store-heater no longer works. It says its a one piece system. Can these heaters be replaced or repaired(probably made in China) or am i better off scrapping it and buying a new one?

Its a plug electric fireplace.sparked i unplug
It sounds like you are plugging it in when the unit is in the on position or(under load) make sure all switches are turned off before plugging it in. that will be a good place to start,

Suspect the bulb has gone out on my fireplace logs .
Yes - bubs are 120vac with a small base - not the standard light bulb type - more like the larger outdoor Christmas lights. There are 3 bulbs required. I'd consider going with the compact flourescent - they give off less heat.

Light comes on but dont flicker
Most likely this is becasee motor driving the "tinsel in a stick" is not working. Take the glass off, remove the fake logs and look underneath to see if the the rod wih the tinsel is turning. If not the problem could be the motor or the speed control. If you have a voltmeter you can test the speed control output - it's 12VDC - of course it will vary depending on the speed sselection. The mot probably cause is the motor has died. You can buy a new one at
www.ibuyfireplaceparts.com. Cost is $77.01> it's a bit tricky to replace - just a tight spot is all - 2 small screws and out it comes.

Flickering lights have stopped working
basically, on the bottom of the fireplace, there are 2 screws on the
sides, 3 on the back, take them off, lift bottom (it wont come off, so
be careful not to bend it) there are 3 christmas light type bulbs, you
can find them at any hardware store. Just replace them. Problem solved.

Hello, I bought a Leisure Patio Heater Model TD
you got to be more specific, have you put it together yet? if so, make sure you have the fuel connected right. insure the connector is all the way and tight, incide the valve is a safety divise that if it is not putched all the way in, the valve wouldn't open.
Electric Fireplace Insert
verify the breaker is on (reset) then power up and verify voltage with a meter, there are safty devices that will keep the unit from energizing other than the switch
