Hello. Here is the link to the power button for your unit. Most likely, the contacts inside the switch have worn out causing arcing--hence the crackling sound you heard. I would not use the washer until you get the switch repaired! If the internal contacts are not touching properly, heat will be generated and could cause the switch to melt, thereby creating a real safety hazard(I've seen this happen). This is a generalize answer, but remove the bottom kick panel to manually rotate the pump motor. In general they can get locked up by objects. Locking up the pump.
