The Leica Disto A6 is not the same instrument as the HTCL HK40. Here's a picture of what the HK40 looks like.

By first, try to upload a new version of the firmware (You find it in MyWorld): before You do it, check the Maintenance Expiry Date of your equipment (Leica ask money for updated firmware, if your instrument is older than 1-2 year). There is no error code 270 listed for a Leica Digital DISTO D3a 100M Laser Distance Meter. Are you sure that's the code? Or do you have a different make or model of laser distance meter?
