How do I make the octopus turkey dogs
These are fairly easy, but you must have a very sharp knife with a thin blade.
Leaving about 2 inches or so on one end of the dog whole, slice it in half lengthwise. Roll it over 90 degrees and repeat so that you have 4 tentacles. Now, here is where you need that sharp, thin-bladed knife; each of your 4 tentacles need to be sliced in half lengthwise. They can be a little difficult, so do this carefully and slowly.
Lay the dog out flat on a microwave safe plate (if you stand it up,heating could cause it to split) and zap it for 30-40 seconds. This can also be done in a steamer until it is heated through. This step will cause the head to plump and the tentacles to curl.
Your octopus is now done, but you need to plate it up in a fun and interesting way. Some ideas are: ramen noodles or thin spaghetti that has been dyed with food coloring (green for seaweed, blue for the ocean), chili or hot dog sauce can be a rocky beach, plop him down on some mac & cheese or baked beans. Little dots of mustard can be eyes. I know these cephalopods have a beak where their tentacles meet, but for a kid's party, a smiley face is just fine.
Hope this helps! Enjoy and have fun!
