I need to know how to do a factory reset on a lacie 4Big Quadra enterprise.
- Disconnect all cables from the device.
- Press and hold the "reset" button (located on the rear panel) for about 10 seconds.
- Wait for the device to restart and initialize. This may take several minutes.
- Reconnect the cables to the device and try accessing it again.
Note: It's recommended to backup all data stored on the device before performing a factory reset, as all data will be lost during the reset process.
My LaCie external drive isn't getting power
U should test for power at the connector that goes into the lacie with a voltmeter to make sure power supply and its wire are OK. If no voltmeter then use a automobile brake or turn signal bulb to see if it has power.
My lacie external hd designed
the power circuit is most likely blown. You can buy an external hard drive case and put the hard drive in it. Be sure to buy correct size hard drive enclosure. The other way is to remove hard drive from external case and put into computer with a spare sata connection.
LaCie Case and new IDE drive not communicating with my MAC
It sounds like you have power but the communication method is not working. I assume it is a usb drive, (or it is firewire 400, firewire 800? How do you have it hooked up to the Mac? If you are using usb, I would try using a different usb cable. Same for firewire. You also might read your manual on the Lite-On drive is see if you have to throw some dip switch make it a master or slave setting on IDE.
"The disk LaCie was not repairable by this computer. It is being made available to you with limited functionality. You must back up your data and reformat the **** as soon as possible. Am using it as
Bob,
I had a similar problem with two LaCie external hard drives.
LaCie doesn't manufacture hard drives, they only purchase drives from other companies, like Seagate, and mount those drives in LaCie external enclosures.
If the drive is nearing the point of total failure, then your Mac is letting you know that point is very close. You had better find a new backup device to use. The Mac will let you access the drive for a while longer, but if you do not act, there will come a point when the Mac will not be able to read the data on the drive and any backups you have there will be lost.
When you get a new external hard drive to use for backup, you may not need to do anything with the current drive that is failing, as long as you do not anticipate that you will need anything from the backups that it contains. You can set up the new device as your primary backup. I would then advise that you perform a total backup on the new device ASAP, so that you are not left without at least one good backup.
Drive not recordnized
Hi
please explain more information about your problem.
before any further assistance try to check it on other computers and see if its working or not if yes then take a full backup quickly,
if not then:
try replace the USB/SATA/PATA cable and check if it is working or not.
if yes then take a full backup quickly,
if not then:
1-this is an external drive:
1-1: it use as a normal external HDD for backing up data/movie/music/pics/etc.:
option number 1:try to fix its partition clusters/sectors with some software like easeus partition recovery or ...
option number 2:try to format it and then recover its data via recovery applications like easeus or "get data ntfs back" or...
note: in all scenarios you may lost some files or content
1-2 it is used for speed up your computer or has the MBR or EFI boot partition and has an OS installed on it:
try to fix its partition clusters/sectors with some softwares like easeus partition recovery or ...
note: in all scenarios you may lost some files or content
2-this is an internal drive:
1-change the SATA/PATA cable
2-check its sectors or clusters via software (windows check disk or windows defragment option) for bad sectors or cluster issues
3-try to fix its partition clusters/sectors with some software like easeus partition recovery or ...
if none of my solution works or software found some bad sectors that could not resolve it then or even you couldn't format the drive then:
maybe it has a hardware fault and there is not much you can do about it by yourself and you should go for warranty service or replacement or asking some expert companies for recovering your data via some special hardware that it may cost you too much.
best regards
