Is water supposed to be added to the base and top

Only the base, then the water passes through the coffee as steam, re condenses and makes a great cup. Try and use specialty grade coffee, ground to mocha pot coarseness for the best results, not filter grind

I bought a LA PAVONI

Hi,

This problem could occur due to to two problems.

1)Blockages in the valves. There are many valves present that will cause this issue.
When it is blocked due to dust particles it will block the flow.Check in the the diagram of how
to separate the La Pavoni.Apply some air pressure at the valve knob endings and the flow turnings.

2)Piston may to block the flow.So take it clean and place it properly.

Here is the parts diagram which will help you take apart the La Pavoni.

Hi i've got Pavoni gold 8 cup. It just shut off

Hi.

If it shuts completely off, then the controller board is faulty. That is probably the only part that can cause shut down after machine has been connected and had been on for a while.

Hi there,
It is very cost effective to fix and not buy a new one if you haven't already. A new element and gasket kit would set you back about £80 where a new machine of this same spec will set you back at least £700 for the brass and copper or even more. You can purchase parts from our website www.theespressoshop.co.uk and we send all over the world. I hope i have caught you before you purchase a new one and i would also ask that if you have not thrown the other one away i would be happy to take it off your hands at the right price. You can contact me at [email protected]

Hi there,
I am an engineer that services these machines on a daily basis. Good news - you are not missing anything at all. The type of cap you have, has a safety release valve built in which will be the hissing sound. If you fill the boiler as normal, turn on the machine and allow to boil up as normal and if steam starts hissing out and does not stop then just give it a light tap and this should stop. Basically when these machines are new the spring inside sticks and once you have tapped it a few times to release it, it should loosen it up and it will give a brief hiss then stop as the machine heats up. I hope this helps but if you have any further questions you can get me at [email protected]

There is water leakage on my La Pavoni Europiccola machine

Hi there,
I am a domestic coffee machine engineer based in Glasgow, Scotland and i service, repair and refurbish these machines on a daily basis. You will probably find that the gaskets which are holding the sightglass in place are completely solid and resemble a hard plastic like gasket. There will definately be gaskets there as if not the sightglass would rattle about and the water would pour straight out. It depends on which sight glass nuts you have but if they are the clear plastic nuts you will find either black, white or clear gaskets underneath and if the nuts are metal then you should see brass washers first and then the gaskets underneath the washers. These are easily replaced and can be purchased from our website www.theespressoshop.co.uk I hope this helps and if you have any further questions or queries then please do not hesitate to get in touch at [email protected]

La Pavoni Lever Machine Hissing?

Hi there,
If you have a La Pavoni lever model espresso machine and the safety assembley on the top right hisses while the machine is heating up, all you have to do is use something hard but preferably not metal or too large and tap the safety assembly quite firmly but not to hard and this should stop the hissing. This is because inside the assembly there is a bung on a spring and sometimes it becomes stuck and just needs a gentle tap to free it up. If it doesn't stop hissing then you can remove and stretch the spring or if needs be replace the spring and bung.

Espresso comes out of comes out of spout before handle is raised

Hi there, i am Mr La Pavoni and am based in Glasgow, Scotland. I service and repair these machines all day every day and basically it could be a couple of different things. If it is pre 2000 then it could either be the piston gaskets or the piston shaft has come slightly unscrewed from the piston head. If it is post 2000 then it could be any of the above but also in these models there is an additional sleeve inside the group head which may be cracked or the seal on this part may need replacing. It could even just be a tiny bit of debris on one of the piston gaskets. If you have removed the shower plate and gasket and then taken out the piston assembley then you should really replace these gaskets anyway. You can purchase the parts on my website www.theespressoshop.co.uk which are all individually priced and every part is available for the lever machines. If you require any further assistance then please do not hesitate to get in touch at [email protected]

When I pull up on the lever water doesn't

Hi, I just had the same problem and fixed it by tightening the piston which had loosened itself from the piston rod.
This is actually a very quick and easy fix.
You need to remove the diffuser screen to access the piston, then tighten piston, which is threaded onto the piston rod. I simply tightened it by hand but for a more permanent fix, you probably want to take the piston and rod right out so you can get it tighter, or maybe use some locktite or similar.
The good thing is you can give the machine a clean behind the ears while you're in there and one or more of the rubber gaskets may be due for replacing anyway.
For details on how to get at the piston, read through this web page http://www.pavoniexpress.com/sealrepl.html - REPLACING THE GROUP PISTON GASKETS AND GROUP TO BOILER GASKET
