The E display indicates disc loading error.Due to inactivity the carousel loading trays rubber belt would have either become stiff or loose ( depending on which part of the world you live in ).So your loading action is not being completed due to your loose loading belt condition.
There are sensors ( small leaf switches ) which tell the micro controller if the tray has gone in completely and lifted the CD off the carousel tray, only after that the CD starts spinning for play operation. If this sequence does not complete the tray opens and closes by itself in some makes and model during power On
If you are up to it you can open the top cover and see the loading tray and beneath it is the loading belt.Your challenge is getting a replacement today of an old model.

Is this a new rig or did it just stop working?

If you would elaborate a bit on what you're doing and how it's connected we might be able to solve your problem with high level information.

A list of equipment, including the amplifier you're using, would help.

If there is a Pre Amp Out stero pair that would go the Amplifier's Pre or Main IN pair.

If there's is a Tape Monitor control, turn it off.

Phono can go ONLY to phono.
Other stereo devices can go to just about anything avalable such as Tuner, Aux, CD, DVD.

Hi, It could be that you have the wrong omes 4 omes instead of 8. That means the amp has to put out more power to run those speakers. Check that you have the right omes. Good luck

To state the model number of your Memorex and the equipment you are downloading to, may help you get an answer.

I thought my Pure Sonus 1XT was knackered as it would only show a blank blue screen and not respond to the buttons. But by trial and error I found that if I disconnected it from the mains power supply for TWO WEEKS (one week was not enough) it would restart correctly, and would stay ok so long as I did not disconnect from the supply, and so I used only the standby button to switch off. If I did disconnect, it meant another two week wait. No idea why this works. Mine did have a faulty power supply at one time (genuine Pure) which left 15v on the supply, rather than the 9v that it should be. Worth a try before you take it for recycling. Beresford.
