Reciver kicks on and then kicks off

KLH enter the US market at 2004.
The source of the problem is the power supply board.

If you are handy then you can inspect for leaky electrolytic capacitors.
Replace the capacitors with the same value.

If most case you can fix the unit by replacing few capacitors for under $15 and one hour of your time.

I have this reciever and it has alot of static, is

Static is good - that means the receiver is working. You just need a good antenna to get the radio stations better. It should work with a CD player - connect one hear what that sounds. If it's good, then the amplifier is in good shape.

How to open the enclosure???

Many speaker enclosures are glued together - this helps prevent vibrations of cabinet panels. Many panels are made of particle board, covered with a simple veneer. Disassembling the enclosure would likely be destructive.

The best way in, turns out to be via the largest driver - or woofer. The woofer is the largest speaker in the cabinet and is usually held in place by 4 screws. It can be removed without (or with only minimal) damage to the cabinet after removal of the screws with a screwdriver. Use of a battery operated screwdriver is discouraged due to the possibility of stripping the holes in the particle board. Once the screws are out, you might need to gently pry the outer edge of the woofer's metal frame from the cabinet with a small screwdriver to separate them.

Be prepared for the speaker to come spilling out of the cabinet. Wires on the speaker - if to be disconnected - should labeled as to which terminal they are connected - so the speaker will be in phase when reconnected. All wires to be disconnected should be labeled first! You may find filler material (looks like a thick fiberglass blanket) and crossover components (coils & capacitors) along with the additional wires between the crossover components and other speakers in the cabinet. Be careful to not accidentally disconnect wires from the internal components if you need to remove the filler material.

These are tips for opening most speaker cabinets - yours may differ slightly. Hopefully, this helps. Please rate this reply - thanks!

How would i connect it to the tv??

Hello,
This receiver is only capable of outputting and switching composite video, which is not hd capable. Because of this, I would recommend you use it for audio only. Connect the audio portion of your source to the receiver, and the video portion directly to the tv. By connecting it like this, you have the ability of viewing HD sources on your tv(if tv is capable of course) and still enjoy the 5.1 surround sound that your receiver can provide.
Good Luck

I have a KLH ASW10-125C Subwoofer and a Harman

Home Theater

volume - personal taste - usually just high enough that you notice the bass - try turning down until you don't notice it then turn up one notch in the switch

phase - depends on distance from other speakers - try initially setting to 0 degrees

cross-over frequency - depends on your other speakers - try setting at 60-100Hz

I have a KLH SW-90

I have the same amp. there a two ways to use it: The phono plug inputs are low level, are for use as an amplifier only, and their only output is the subwoofer output. In this case, any stereo satellite speakers would be driven directly from your stereo amp.
The high level inputs are meant to be driven as the same as speakers from your stereo amp. A circuit inside samples the bass and directs it to the sub amp and output. this same circut passes unamplified outputs to the satellite outputs. PM me at [email protected] if you need further info.

Hi, I'm getting only 720x480i

720 is the usual output from a DVD. Usually if you futz with the settings long enough, you'll find where most TVs can at least fill the screen by re-sampling, and SOME DVD players will have settings that will do the re-sampling for you and output 1080i, again just to fill your screen. But don't be fooled... only Blue Ray disks will give you true 1080i resolution. .

KLH R5100 will not turn

If you have a power surge protector which costed $10 or under, those aren't what they're cracked up to be.I had my computer on one of those last year, lightning strike, nothing else affected but it fried my hard drive. If you want to at least take off the cover to find a fuse in the input power circuit,it may pay off.Just avoid the blue cylindrical components which are capacitors...normally blue anyhow, they may jolt you slightly.Nothing too serious,I've hit them at least 100 times...small jolt.Sometimes nothing. If there is a nearby repair shop, you could take it there and they should determine what is wrong and give you an estimate free.At least we used to,I don't know if it is a 'universal' policy or not.If you end up having to ship it,it looks kind of big so it may end up costing about $20 to ship, weight alone, other considerations are dimensions on oversize box costs, etc. If you send it in too, even if you don't want it fixed after their estimate, they will normally ship it back free.More things to consider, repair centers have parts a price markup minimum 20%.Labor is $40-$60/hour on top of your shipping.Anyhow,I would at least look for a fuse inside, just track where the wire goes in and follow the circuit lines embedded within the board as far as possible until you are unsure. As far as repair,I have given you some reasonably accurate info on the charges you are looking at.If you find a repair center they can give you a better labor rate, then weigh your pros and cons for repair vs. replace.I would rather not make the decision because I can't see it.By the way,if you have some expensive electronics, game systems,DVD play/record you REALLY want to protect, there is one made by BELKIN which guarantees their product with $ reimbursement should their product fail. The smalles they make is 6 outlet but has a $50k guarantee.I already asked them for just in case and you do not even need the original receipts. It is a little pricy but in the long run pays for itself.I livee in the lightning capital of the US and no problems since.

Don't have a manual or the remote for KLH audio

There should be numbered buttons on the receiver.Set the channel to what you want to preset, then press and hold down the numbered button you want. The sound will probably go away for a couple of seconds but when it comes back on the channel is preset. If you press the band button while you're already on FM and it goes to another FM,you can also preset more channels for FM.There should only be one AM band, then it will switch back to FM.
Good luck! Greg

I burned up some resistors

This is a pretty common problem with this sub.

Here's a solution that I posted earlier this year, including schematics for the upper and lower circuit boards. Be sure to check the circuit board revisions to make sure they match my schematics.

Hi i have a older

You can use 4 speakers. Connect 2 speakers to the A system of the JVC and the other 2 to the B system. Then select in JVC the A+B speakers position. As your receiver is stereo, this is the way you could best distribute the sound. However, if you have only 3 speakers, it would be dangerous to try wiring the third one without changing the whole impedance. So you may use 2 speakers.
