5100 turns on when starting to play music it shuts

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts and overloads.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced hands-on tech.

When i tunr my KLH R3100 it gives me an error

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts and overloads by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections as a root cause for intermittent shutdown.

Of course. Depending on your PC's audio capabilites.

Whatever fits will work. Treat the PC as any other sound source.

Connect or adapt its speaker or headphone output to an RCA pair into the recorder.

Get into your Sound Controls and enable the applicable output, raise the volume sufficiently. Disable all other system sounds if you don't want "you've got mail" in your recording.

Cue up, set levels and start. Don't touch anything on the PC while recording. Turn off all other applications or you may encounter pauses and dropouts as the PC serves other masters.

If it has a 3 prong plug, try a 3 prong adaptor - where only 2 prongs are plugged in. Sub's should not be grounded. If it still makes a hum noise, the amp circuitry may be compromised. SPEAKER HUMS AND SMELLS OF BURNING.

I have the same problem, a few months ago I plugged it into the wall socket, turned it on, then it just hums. Never smelled any burning until I opened it up. There are Two Large Electrolytic Capacitors on the main amplifier board that have completely leaked. There are three resistors that got so hot that the center of the board is burnt black. Next to those three resistors are a bunch of smaller electrolytic capacitors that also have scorched marks surrounding them, although there appears to be no leaking.

The last time I used the subwoofer, it worked great as it has for years. I unplugged it for a week and then when I went to use it, it started humming. I am an electronic technician by trade, I don't think its worth the time and materials to replace all of the defective parts. I suspect that the isolation transformer failed that then caused the main board to poof. The fuse on the outside is on the AC side and is fine. Which indicates that the disturbance is on the other side of the transformer. I do not have a schematic but the main board fuse (if there is one) failed to prevent a full on frying. The control board looks undamaged. If I can find on ebay a junk one that is for sale, I would replace the transformer and main amplifier board. The speaker appears to be ok, but I measured the resistance and it registers 3.2 Ohms. Which is odd, considering speakers tend to be in the even numbered categories such as 2, 4, and 8.

Hope this helps, I gotta buy a new subwoofer.

If you mean a blank CD-R to RECORD audio, then the SONY digital AUDIO MUSIC discs are the ONLY brand that work anymore. Imation has destroyed the way that Memorex, Maxell, TDK and Imation have made their AUDIO recorder CD-R's. The only ones that will work have a blue-green tint, and SONY does have that, while the Imation junk switched to a golden color that does not work consistantly at all. Does that answer your question? The SONY MUSIC Blank Audio CD-R's are available from Walgreens' stores and online from Amazon.com vendors. Let me know if you need more info.

How do you shut off the closed caption feature?

I do not know this dvd player, but on most anything with closed caption, you hit the cc button on the remote until you come to '0' or 'off'. As CC has about 6 channels it can use, but really only channel '1' is used. So you might have to cycle through the CC channels until closed caption disappears. Hope this helps. You might also have a setup menu on this DVD where you can control the CC.
Just cycle though it till you get to '0' or off, exit the setup menu.
