possible failure of defrost mechanism causing ice to build up behind back of freezer preventing air flow into freezer and fridge. Try turning it off for enough time for ice to melt if cause.
if this is issue the repair man will need the ice half melted to be able to test the thermistor that senses the ice buildup.

check to ensure the valve to the water supply is fully open, if so you may have a restriction (plugged) line or valve, this could be due to minerals or biological growth. if possible roll the fridge from it's location to access the rear where the water supply is connected, turn the brass fitting left to loosen to see if water begins to seep out, this confirms a water supply is available and the issue is likely a solenoid valve. My hunch is being neither are working at the same time the water supply is not available.

There should be plenty of room where the tubing connects to the water solenoids once you get the cardboard cover off. There should be no need to tilt the refrigerator to do the job.

I run into this issue a few times. The noise is coming from a control board and it has a weak component. Depending on your model, multiple control boards will have to be replaced. This will take care of the control panel also. Good Luck

Yes sounds like the compressor starting device failure.
You have not given the full model number. Anyway if the compressor is AC powered 120 V. Not DC powered. Then relay kit part number for Whirlpool KitchenAid this model series will be Whirlpool OEM part # 8201786
Pull the power out until replacing the parts or getting checked. Don't let the compressor burn out.
Local technician may charge you between $ 100/= ~ $ 200/= including parts and labor to change the starting device. Not a bad idea to call a local service guy in your area.
I am in Toronto GTA area and my rate will be in the range of $ 160/= to $ 180/=. But I will most likely use a hard start relay kit. Not the Whirlpool OEM part. Now don't say that I am a rip off guy. That is my rate while another guy may charge only $ 100/=. But I am honest. Not the cheapest

Once you find the correct model number, there are a number of sites you can use to find parts breakdown. Good Luck
I have a KitchenAid Refrigerator Model Number: KBFC42FTS. Bottom drawer freezer over cools -10 degrees.
That's interesting, -10 or colder is too cold and something is defiantly going on. This unit is controlled by a mulitple control boards, temperture sensors and other components. Question, what is freezer temp set at? Try increasing it by 3-4 degrees and see if that changes anything. Beyond that, I'm going to change the temp sensor first before doing any of the control boards. #29 is the temp. sensor. Good Luck
