There is a huge capacitor inside microwaves, and that description sounds like it is starting to fail. There are smaller capacitors as well. It won't be a door switch, they work or they don't. I had two Panasonic Commercial microwaves in a pub kitchen, one plain and one was a combination machine and both had drop down doors.

Sounds like movement on the shaft. Grab the end of the shaft with grips and pull it towards you. Then put the gear on without pushing it back in. Do you have a flame sensor ? As it sounds like the flame sensor is not clean . Or its cracked and not sending a signal back to the spark module . I would also check the connetions are clean and tight .

My first inclination, is the noise was the brushes burning out, If you over did it, you may have burned out the motor, then it "is" trash. "If" it is just the brushes, that can be fixed, take it to your local appliance repair guy to have it checked.

It works on a siphoning system. Usually you can pull the top dome part off. If that doesn't work, run hot tater in from the hole in the bottom. There shouldn't be anything inside it.
