How to clean the kitchenaid java express coffee maker

The Coffee Maker can be descaled using
a packaged descaling agent or vinegar.
Always mix the descaling solution using
cool water.
• When using a descaling agent, follow
the directions on the package for the
recommended amounts of descaling
agent and water to use.
• When using vinegar, fill the carafe with
a solution consisting of 1⁄2 vinegar and
1⁄2 water.
Descaling Steps:
1. Before descaling, always remove the
water filter (see “Installing the Ion-
Exchange Water Filter” on page 7) and
make sure the brew basket contains
no coffee or coffee filters.
2. Run the Coffee Maker through a
complete brewing cycle using a full
carafe of the descaling solution.
3. If the cleaning needed indicator lights
after the brewing cycle is complete,
repeat Step 2 using fresh descaling
solution. Keep repeating Step 2 until
the cleaning needed indicator no
longer lights after brewing.
4. Rinse the Coffee Maker by running
it through two brewing cycles using a
full carafe of fresh, cool water
each time.
5. Wash the brew basket in hot, soapy
water and rinse with hot water. This
part can also be washed in the upper
rack of the dishwasher.
6. Reinstall or replace the water filter.
Replace the filter every three months
under normal usage, or more often
with heavy use.

Coffee maker is flashing error, what do I do?

If it is an Error 2, Drain the coffee maker and open up the bottom part. You will see the burner with a metal clip. There are Two components on the burner. You want one with the brown wire with a white cloth coating. Slide the coating down to expose the Thermistor. Take a small piece of alluminum foil and cover the thermistor. Slide white cover back over the newly covered thermistor and put you coffee maker back together and enjoy your coffe

Error 2

The manual that came with my coffee maker (same Kitchen Aide & same ERR2) says if pushing the on/off button a few times to reset it doesn't fix it, it's probably an electrical problem. It comes wirh only a 1 year warranty (mine's about 2 years old). If your maker is less than 1 year old you can call 1-800-541-6390 (M-F 8am-8pm, Sat 10am-5pm Eastern time) for a replacement. Otherwise, you just have to get a new coffee maker. I found no instructions to send it in to get it repaired.

I have found one that the part number is KCM50WF sell the item for $12.99 for 2 and a $1.99 shipping. I asume that you already know how to replace the filter. You might also check your local hardware store as many of them also stock these types of filters. This is the link to the store and web page the item is on http://www.filtersfast.com/KitchenAid-KCM50WF-Coffee-Filter.asp

Leaks when brewing

There are many possible points that the leak can be.

You need to disassemble the machine and work it without the side panels of course with extra care since power electrical cables are exposed.

In this way with a very good visual check while the machine is in operation you can identify the leaking point and fix it.

An ERR 2 may be cleared by a simple reset of the coffee maker. This means unplugging the unit and plugging it back in. When powered back on, select a brew function to see if the error reappears.

If it does, ERR 2 indicates an internal error with the computer of the warming plate. This may be covered under Kitchenaid's 1 Year Hassle Free Warranty.
