Well put him in your laptop or desktop and the most easist way is to go to my computer, where it possible will be stand as letter(x): datatraveller. just select it with you left buttom, push on the righ -->format----> you can choose quick format , which is wrong, that one only removes the index, not the data, show choose ntfs 4096kb totall format and enter
The problem with ssd and flashmemory is that it's hard to really remove the data , compared to an old fashioned diskdrive. This is caused by the way the data is stored .
It's a bit the same that you think you can remove all virtual copies from windows..... impossible... just goole for fun if you think your harddisk is clean, it ain't.
gr richard and a total format is ok to clean your flashdrive... not if it involves data which never may be recoverd-->>>> burn it

It sounds like your files are encrypted (for some strange reason). You will need to figure out how to un-encrypt or disable encryption on the troublesome drive. It might help further if you stated what OS's are on the computers involved.

I think that I have a similar problem (and a potential solution)

1. My thumb drive is 4GB "super talent", and I have used it for about 2years

2. Suddenly, it show up as "REMOVABLE" SKYMEDI USB DEVICE (!)

3. I tried "google" for answer... and did not get further

4. Finally, I righ click on "my computer" -> select "manage" the "computer management" MMC windows open

4.1 I tried the "Disk Management" and it still can not connect to it

4.2 I clicked on "Removable Storage" ... and then I "SKYMEDI..."

4.3. I righ click on the device and select "Task" -> "Free" (thinking ... what can be worst!)

4.4 ... sunddenly ... I see my drive back ... with everything on it....

I hope that this help (... I am guessing that the "removable storage" manager locked this device somehow)

Regards
