My Kettler running machine keeps cutting out. Have lubricated the running belt but problem persists
Could be several things going on. I'm not familiar with your brand of treadmill, so I don't know how powerful the motor or how durable it is. Could be that it can't handle the load anymore. I had a cheap treadmill that would trip the breaker switch on me often after about 5-10 minutes of use. I needed to up the switch amp to get it to work, but that means your house wiring for your switch needs to conform to that load as well. Messing with electricity was not going to happen for me. I ended up getting a new treadmill. Try plugging in your treadmill in a different outlet that may have a fuse or breaker with a higher amp, like a 20 amp or so, and see if the problem persists. If your machine is more than 5 years old, it's motor is probably worn out. Of course, you could always dress warmer and just run outside. ;)

The fly wheel has a 'freewheel' mechanism similar to the rear wheel on a bicycle. It needs cleaning and regreasing with light grease to free it up and make it work properly. The job is not difficult but needs some diy knowledge. Before trying to remove the fly wheel some slack will need to be created on the 'bungee' return cord and anchored securely. You will also require circlip pliers to remove the shaft. The freewheel mechanism is a set of needle bearings that move forward in their recess to allow the wheel to rotate and move back and lock when the wheel rotates in the opposite direction. These need to be free moving and old grease thickens and becomes sticky. Clean with something like GT 85 and regrease with a light grease.
