Check the speaker wires. Make sure that damaged/frayed wires aren't touching other wires or the case of the mini shelf system. If the protect message persists, then the short could be internal to the system. I know service manuals are available online for the Kenwood RXD-655. However, it may not be worth repairing the system. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

GET THE USER MANUAL OR SERVICE MANUAL AND SEE THAT THAT MEANS. IT CAN BE, 12VDC TO THE (POWER) IS BAD 12VDC AND GROUND OR (seems to me NOT POWER) CAN mean one of speakers failing like this.(this) 1: shorted speaker, (CALLED VOICE COIL SHORTS 2: shorted speaker WIRES, to shorted to car body ground. 3 using wrong speaker if 2ohms is not allowed but 4-8ohms is allowed. or putting 2x 4 ohm speakers in parallel fails. as it will;./ 4: amp is bad.(in the head end) page 62 in your manual states If the power is not turned on ("Miswiring DC Offset Error", "Warning DC Offset Error" is displayed), the speaker wire may have a short circuit or have touched the chassis of the vehicle and the protection function may have been activated. Therefore, the speaker wire should be checked THE REAL MEANING, (ME TOLD) IS ONE OF THE SPEAKER PRESENTS A OVERLOAD TO ANY AMP OUTPUT CHANNEL. TO FIND THISONE MUST DISCONNECT SPEAKERS TO FIND IT. YES SPEAKERS AND WIRES CAN SHORT. A TECH EVEN TRIES TEST SPEAKER 1 AT TIME TO PROVE THIS. IF ALL TESTS FAIL THE AMP IS BAD.

My car stereo will not let me enter the security code it will not pass enter

thats an overload protection circuit....its protecting the internal amp from getting fried...do you have aftermarket speakers in the vehicle?

Your amplifier is going into protection mode. Did you purchase this amp brand new? Or did you buy it used?

CODE DO YOU mean.page 8 , did you make it to page 8 , tell it your LANGUAGE>just buy it new. the radio or USEDor a used car just bought with this as old as 2018 radio.the radio must be setup first , per pages 8 on, this radio is smart, the display shows full errors is full language words. like, "UNSUPPORTED DEVICE"the only locks on this RADIO heat for SiriusXM optional TUNER, <<< got thisis the detached face plate clean on the back side ,gold pins/ or filthy. must be kept clean that.

Those capacitors don't add any power they just store power in between bass notes but if you don't have enough current going to it through your power wire and don't have a good ground to bare shiny metal with a wire lug your not going to get a good connection. Also I spray clear coat or rubberized under coating or something over the ground connection so it doesn't corrode in the future and cause you to loose current. If you have the small Jensen 1200 with the lights on it those amp really only put out about 600 true watts. The type of wire your using and fuse sizing makes a big big difference. I used to only use OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) Audio power wire which is pure copper butearnwd about welding cable and it carries much more current and is cheaper and you cab buy it by the foot at ACDCWIREANDSUPPLY.COM so you don't have any extra wire. The shorter a wire is the more current it can carry. Also if you don't have your big 3 done under the hood or know what it is look it up on YouTube. I always run a AGM battery in the back close as possible to my amp and a $20 Stinger Pro adjustable Voltmeter off the amp itself so I can see the amps voltage in real accurate time. Get you a AGM battery, AGM battery, $20 Voltmeter, make good grounds to shiny bare metal. You can get a 10 pk of copper wire lugs online for $10 or less.

Repair the faulty output stage or faulty power supply.

Take it to a Kenwood authorised repair shop. The face plate could be the fault, try the new face plate in the old radio to check.

My guess is that someone left on the thin protective plastic film instead of removing it. Over time, it degrades and flakes. Spray WD40 on a cloth and try cleaning a corner of it. WD40 is kerosene based and shouldn't damage the plastic but should loosen the tack glue that is used on it.
