Kds K-92bw After about

This issue is most likely caused by a capasitor doing bad. There is no easy fix. It must be disembled and the power supply repaired. If done properly, it should cost somewhere between $ 50 to $125. But it may do it again as the Pwoer supply is a known issue for this monitor. Sorry.

No power to my KDS k-24mdwb monitor, can this be

You can try if you have proper tools and soldering skills.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

WONT TURN ON

This is a common problem across many monitors, unfortunately. The problem stems from one of two things, typically.

It is either the Power Inverter board (Inverter Mirage Electronics AD-1700 Rev:F 200-000-170DTL1 VERSION:A) or a weak or dying backlight.

If your monitor comes on for 2 seconds then you can test the backlight by using the controls to get into the backlight brightnes settings on the OSD and turning it WAY down.

If that dosen't work then it is likely bad capacitors on the Power board mentioned above. If you feel adventurous and know how to solder then you might be able to fix this yourself. You need to be careful however because you are dealing with high votage in there and capacitors CAN hold a charge long after you have unpluged the unit. You can read more about this power board as well as how to replace the bad caps HERE.

If that's not for you then I would recomend taking it to a local TV shop for them to fix. The parts shouldn't be more than $20, but labor can be expensive.

I have a KDS 5ms model 900W this was never used as

These have problems with burning up transistors on the inverter side of the powerboard.
Sometimes they are fixable, sometimes not. It depends on which board is in it (they used 2 different styles)
I have done a few of these.
If you can open it up and send me a picture of the board to [email protected], I may be able to tell you more.

My kds k-92mdwb monitor goes black after a few

brendadeese, You might be able to repair it. Well your husband or boyfriend maybe. If good with a soldering iron, solder-wick, solder, and $5-$12 in new filter capacitors. You should have visited YOUTUBE for video clips of "LCD monitor disassembly"and "LCD monitor repair" to see just what is involved with making BLACK SCREEN of DEATH go away. Most LCD monitors (98%) use same basic backlighting technology. Here are some repair options for you to ponder over! A. If KDS has a swapout program for BSoD units try it first! B. Contract out the REFURBISHMENT work to reputable local firm that knows exactly what is needed to do the work properly. C. Trade in for new unit. But remember that the tech in the back of the store is going to repair your unit with a little luck and have a nice monitor to give to his kids on Christmas, and won"t need to do it again till Christmas 2011 or 12. I would also recomend a visit to www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm to learn what may be the cause of your BSoD. FYI If K92MDWb had a crisp, bright, colorful image just prior to BSoD, try doing the flashlight test so you will know if the units "switch-mode-power-supply" is in "full" or "partial" shutdown mode. 12fixlouie If this was of some help, please rate on fixya.

How to brighten monitor

i have a few thing to help you with this problem, but first if the monitor old, used a lot or left on all the time than it is time for new on. first right click on screen using the mouse than go down to screen resolution than find the detect button after thats done go to Identify select that one, after you done all that than go to advanced settings and open the folder, than check the adapter, monitor, troubleshoot, color management, than select color management check all settings. 2 way is to go to control panel open color management folder, for your general information for you monitor and other options you mite want to review understanding color management settings find advanced tab find calibrate display, it will run a lot of tests and have you answer some question about visual site and what you like in the settings of the monitor. you mite look in to video card manufacture and see if they have any tools for the drivers game apps or programs that runs other than video card drivers, like i have nvidia video card and i went to there website and downloaded so software, nvidia control panel for gamers, 3d adjusting color settings and video image settings, change the aspect ratio, resulation, refresh rate, lots of tools for games and gamers and i do not play a lot of games but i like to have a lot of option that i would not have had before. thank you rod PS make sure all drivers are up to date you will find it in control panel and than open device manager and find video drives, monitors, display adapter.

My screen comes on dor a moment then goes off. What do I do?

You either have a bad inverter or a bad backlight tube. The parts are relatively inexpensive but depending on your technical skill level it may not be worth repairing The inverter is fairly easy to replace but the backlight will be a pain as the light tubes are extremely thin and break very easily.

Monitor stays black

First make sure you have the monitor cables correct. Try another monitor hopefully works so you can go into your device manager and make sure the right drivers are loaded and that your monitor is listed. You may do some research because I'm not sure but I think your monitor uses a back light & an inverter which is replaceable and not usually a difficult job or to expensive. Labor of coarse cost more than the parts. Monitors use a video card or on board video so make sure these are not the problem.
Are you sure its not in wake mode in the bios?
If you shine a light on the monitor when the comp. is on and the monitor light is on you may be able to see your screen. That would be the back light.
When if all and what was going on when it stopped working?

Monitor does not want to come on

Before you take it in to be repaired check one more thing. Click on Start>Right-Click on My Computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Driver. Find your Monitor on the list of hardware devices. Expand it by clicking on it and right--click on your model to update driver. If this does not work then yes, there are two small flourescent bulbs inside the moitor about 8" long and size of a pencil. Those do burn out and can be replaced. However, before you spend money on repairs check for reburbished monitors at websites like TigerDirect. They have new refurbished 19" monitors for a little over $100, Hope this helps.
