KDS monitor screen turns black
So how long have you had it, and try to blow it out. Sometime they just need cleaning. If that don't work send it back before warranty run out
Monitor keeps shutting down
click on the monitor in the computer section and then click on properties, then click on compatibility
click square the highlight win xp and apply
make sure that the driver for the monitor is installed in the win xp program

I agree that the overheat was the supply being too small. Not only the voltage rating is wrong, but I'd bet the amperage is alsotoo low for correct operation. Check this link.
