If cleaning did not fix it the optical pickup for that unit is damaged in some way---if the set has audio/video INPUT jacks on it just buy a DVD player and hook it to the set.If no jacks you are finished--DVD portion of the unit if available costs more than the entire set.

The problem is in the Laser Pickup Assembly, the only solution is to clean the laser lens gently with a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol, if this fails there is no other option but to replace the whole assembly "not cost effective" or buy a new player.
