Two boards can cause the set to be dead, (power and main) considering this was storm related there is a better chance of it being power board failure, however static from lightning can come in the antenna or cable input if you use either of those. If you're using HDMI it's most likely going to be the power board.

Solution is to name your file with this convention...

MOV_xxxx.MPG

where xxxx is 0001 or 0002 or etc.. so your first file would be named MOV_0001.MPG

I did this and it worked fine.

Most likely you've damaged your main board from too large a load to the HDMI port.

The JVC KD-G421 only shows the option to change EXT IN from the CD changer to EXT IN when the current source is FM, AM or Disc . See the following page at ManualsLib: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/81662/Jvc-Kd-G421.html?page=15#manual . Assuming the J-Link cable that you added is the KS-U57 or KD-US58, the unit is still looking for (and not finding) the CD changer. Press the SRC button repeatedly until you get to FM or AM. (Disc will only show if there is a CD in the CD slot.) Then try pressing and holding Sel. Use the fast forward/up or fast reverse/down to get to EXT IN on the display. Then turn the tuning knob until EXT IN is selected. Press Sel again to save the setting. Now see if the EXT IN is listed when you press the SRC button. Unless you are an electronics engineer, it is unlikely you can fix. Look on the back for a fuse holder. If there is check it with a multimeter. It may be protecting the audio parts. Make sure you don't have a button press for a different audio source than what you think and also check if you have switchable speaker outputs. Finally make sure the speakers are connected and the dog hasn't pulled them out. Sounds like there last on one of the units has worn out I'm afraid. Can you not try on a different burner as if that works then at least you'll know which unit is faulty.

Recheck the number again, possibly entering a number for a letter or other common mistake. Have another person read the number. If all else fails contact JVC support.

MIS WIRING" is displayed when there is a DC offset voltage detected at the speaker terminals ('+' and '-').

This is normally caused by connecting a '+' or '-' speaker wire to either GND or Vcc (+12V)

1. Collect cable not being used and make sure they are tapped off and reset

2. Remove a connected cable one at a time and press RESET

3. If after a cable removal and reset the error goes away, last cable removed was fault. Examine cable for short.

4. If you remove and reset all cables except for (RED, YELLOW, and BLACK) and you stilll have error, the short is internal of unit and requires service

You can only preset stations one by one. First, you can do a full scan for all stations in range. Press and hold the Stop button on the unit. Press Play/Pause to start the scan. (There are alternate methods using the remote control. See page 17 of the manual.) Press Fast Forward or Fast Reverse on the unit to navigate through the stations that have signal. To set a preset, tune in a station using the Tune+/Tune- buttons on the remote or Fast Forward/Fast Reverse. Then press and hold Prog/Preset on the remote. When you see ##Empty or a preset number, use Tune+/Tune- to select one of the 20 preset storage numbers. Press OK/Play/Pause to save the preset. (If using the buttons on the unit, press Fast Forward/Fast Reverse to select a preset location. Press Play/Pause to save. You will see Stored on the display in either case, if you successfully saved the frequency to the location.
