I do not know what efforts you made to prime the pump. 1- Make sure that the water faucet is open. Use a hand pump to push water into the pump. You can use a syringe or a hand pump. not if it never did it before when you draw off hot water , there is normally fresh water let in to keep the unit full this cold water hitting the boiling water will produce steam which is allowed to escape hence the noise.

You need a new drainage valve,while you change that you might as well change the orings on the brew group

Hi Jon, I'm Joel, Is this machine you have for a restaurant or private use. a friend bought a machine like this at Bed Bath & Beyond and his machine had a problem with the rinsing cycle and beyond, this machine has a motherboard inside just like a computer and it should have a reset button underneath it or in the back or it's possible that the motherboard is bad. To recycle the motherboard hit the reset button and wait till the machine to finish rebooting and pull the plug and wait about 5 minutes, if this doesn't work then you need to take back to the store for a replacement or refund, If you ask me I would rather have a refund because this particular machine always goes into a malfunction mode. This is one of the newer model so unfortunately the company didn't have time to get all the kinks out. Hope this helps....Joel

This happens when the machine is priming the thermoblocks(heaters) the machine is not registering water flow through the machine.blockage in water tank? pump not running? a thermoblock scaled up(blocked). first check the 2 flow meters in the machine located under the water tank. one of these may be defective or just stuck,

Just in case somebody else comes looking for this answer. I had the same problem and finally fixed it by unplugging the unit for a bit (don't think this helped) and then simply turning the knob to steam until it stopped. Then it went into the normal standby mode. I think I must have missed the last step in one of the cleaning programs or something.
