I am having trouble threading the needles of my Juki MO-2516M serger
Be sure you are using a needle size suitable for the thread weight you are using.
Try this method for threading needles:
Lick your index finger and swipe it across the back of the needle eye.
Aim the thread cut end above the needle eye and slide it down to the eye. It should go right through the eye.
Automatic thread cutter is not working. Juki cp-160
I am confused as to why one place on this says Juki cp-160 and one says DDL-8500-7
If it is the DDL, my most common problem with my knives that cut the threads have become jammed after I either broke a needle or had a thread 'nest' underneath from something I did wrong, like not getting my bobbin case in good before I started to sew.
1. Remove your throat plate (the silver or black plate that covers your feed dog teeth, may sometimes have lines on it to allow you to measure your seam allowance as you sew) that is held on with two screws.
2. Use a bright light to look into your machine under the plate and see if you see broken needle parts or a thread nest. If so, remove them with tweezers or a small pair of needle nose pliers. If you solved the problem, you will hear a small click as the blades return to their proper places.
...Then you can simply reinstall your cover plate and begin sewing.
If the above didn't work:
Your cutting system is made up of two pieces. A moving knife that looks like a tiny silver bird the size of a dime and a stationary knife that looks like the letter L backwards. If either is broken, you should have a repairman fix it. If you have had your machine and sewed alot you may also just have dull knives but I would imagine that they are either jammed or broken.
Good Luck.
I have a juki 560 - wheel is moving manually, but gets hard to move at one point and then goes fine after that. The footfeed is not moving the material through. what could be the problem?
- Remove the foot and plate. Take your thread out of the needle and see if you can run the machine and it turns freely, if so:
- It sounds like you might have your feed dogs in crooked or your plate may be bent. Have you taken them out lately? Or bought a new plate that might not be the right one to match with the feed dogs that are in your machine?
- Take your plate off and examine it to make sure it is flat and that the metal between the feed dogs aren't bent. If they are bent, straighten them with your screw driver. If the plate isn't flat, lay it on a flat surface that you won't hurt (cutting board, workbench, garage floor :) ) and use a hammer to beat it flat (usually a couple hits).
- Lay the plate in place without putting the screws back in and wind the hand wheel forward and see if your machine is still hanging up. If not, put the screws back in the plate, put your foot back on and see if it works!
My Juki started leaking oil up by the bobbing and won't sew. Lots of oil. Fairly new machine as far as usage goes.
Have you moved your sewing machine lately? I don't know what model your machine is, but I would imagine that you have an oil pan under the machine. If you have too much oil in the pan (there are marks on the pan indicating how full you should fill it), it might do this.
If you have moved it lately and tilted the machine, you may have two problems:
1.If you tilted it towards the bobbin, you might have oil dripping from all those parts and you will need to tilt the machine back and dry all the parts with a soft cloth until the excess is gone.
2. If you tilted it to the right, you may have oil on the belt and it is spinning out on a greasy belt. While your machine is tilted backwards, your belt should be loose and you can dry it will a clean rag. Take a flashlight and look down around your motor where your belt is attached and make sure that the cover over the belt isn't full of oil and contributing to the problem. (Dry it out with your rag also).
Good Luck!
Can the Juki MO-623 stitch in reverse?
No, a serger does not reverse. To sew back over the stitch, you can raise the presser foot (do NOT cut or pull the threads) and "flip" the fabric over, lower the presser foot and stitch.
The bobbin presser on my Juki 2000 Qi sewing machine is loose, it spins around and will not let me wind a bobbin. What can I do to fix this?
Be sure you are following the instructions completely. However, it sounds like there could have been a problem with the bobbin winding unit since you purchased it. You can probably take it for service--may be covered under warranty if it was just recently purchased. However, there is also a standalone bobbin winder (Sidewinder) avlb from JoAnn's, Amazon, etc. for $30. They are usually battery and AC compatible. You can wind multiple bobbins quickly without having to unthread your machine and it saves wear n tear on your machine. Verify that your bobbins will work on the bobbin winder--some bobbins (mostly Singer) will not....
