Gritty in icy or with some foreign material?

Usually with these cheaper ice cream makers you put the bowl in the freezer for 12 hours and then put it on the machine and turn it on . Very important point turn it on so it is churning. Why so that what ever you pour in doesn't freeze solid and stop the agitator from churning. Most ice cream is Cream and sweeten condensed milk and flavouring. I do not have this exact ice cream maker but the one I do have has made three different ice creams in it so far. Add 1000 mL of cream to 250 mL sweeten condensed cream. Watch it for about 20 minutes till ice cream is solidifying then transfer to an plastic icecream container and put in freezer for at least 4 hours.

my one a bit erratic ... the hot light is perm on and it wont make ice properly .

I unfortunately found this site to be unhelpful. :( I am doing a trial and error thing until I am able to figure this out on my own. I am using it similar to a coffee maker. I put two tea bags in, filled the water up to the water line, poured water into the top, fill the jug with ice to the fill line, plugged it in and pressed start.

On the front of the machine on both sides the dispensing handle there are large thumb screws (I believe 2 on your unit). Empty the product from the machine then turn the thumb screws to the left to take them off. The screws hold the face plate on the front of your machine. You will then be able to remove the face plate from the front of the unit. The beater will be in the freezing cylinder behind the face plate. You will be able to just pull it out.
