Lost 40Gb of photos-7Gb not lost.

First of, I suggest you use USB Flash Drives of High Value., like 500 to 1G. Or a second Hard Drive 2G. If you lost 40G of data, it is gone. Just remember to use the EJECT format to remove all external devices. If you do not, you can loose data.

I have a Jobo Giga

two issues, you need to recover the file already saved there and restore your unit to a normal copy state. i give one solution for this, upgrade. however, all the above point to failing disk sectors on your 120Gb drive. so just before you do firmware upgrade which usually optimises the device performance, use the windows inbuilt scandisk or check disk utility to repair the damaged disk sectors. test after. do the firmware upgrade finally if disk repair doesn't solve that proble. but it should. thanks for using fixya!

Is there any format limit

As long as the connection format is the same as the original player you should have no problem at all. Simply fit the new hard drive and make sure to format it using the device settings.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa
