500/1 sub amp stopped working, burnt rubber smell
It sounds like the power supply failed. Generally when the supply fails in that amp, you have to replace all 8 of the power supply FETs and all 8 of the 47 ohm surface mount resistors. Many times, the supply fails because one or two of the output transistors have failed.
If you want to have JL repair it, you MUST go through an authorized JL dealer.
If you have a good local repair shop, they should be able to repair it.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Jl 500/1 amp speakers thump when I hit bumps in the road
Definitely check to make sure your amp and speaker enclosure are securely mounted to your vehicle, also check all wiring connections- it sounds like something is loose or there's a short. Secure everything and triple check all connections & I believe all will be well. If you need further help please don't hesitate to ask!

Amp goes into protection mode
Sounds like you are running your subs at to low of ohm. Amps are rated differently on the levels of ohms or resistance that they can get to. If you have a dual 4ohm sub and run it in pairrell it will drop to 2ohm and if you run the same sub in series it will be 8ohm. Your amp will go into protection if the ohm is to low.

I got my 500/1 amp a little wet, wasnt much water
Most modern amps are DC coupled. That means the bias (and therefore the quiescent current) for the later power stages (those stages that do the work and get warm) is set in the earlier stages.
The high gain of the earlier stages means a tiny change there can produce big changes in the way the later stages work. Those early stages are sensitive and more delicate so some damp and dust or dirt can cause far reaching damage.
Time to consult a repair shop...
