Not everything powers up when I turn on my disassembled computer

remove first the power suppy. if it is 24pin power suppy, shorten pin 15/16. that is the black and green,
if the fan of power supply rotates, then the P.S. is ok.
then return it to motherboard. check your connection with the motherboard power switch.
good luck

Will this motherboard use 1gb ram memory 184 pin

Since it uses ddr 2 RAM you should use pairs. Your max supported on this board is 2 GB so if you want to max out you could install 2 x 1 GB. Hope this helps.

Very very low sound

Most of the time that I have seen this is when the old system did not require amplified ( powered ) speakers, because the amplification was done on the motherboard or sound card.

The new motherboard requires the use of amplified ( powered ) speakers.

If the speakers you are using do not have a power button/switch and a volume control, then you will need to replace your speakers.

you can probably get replacement amplifed speakers for as little as $10 at radio shack, and upwards of $200 if you want to turn your pc into an entertainment center, so it is all a matter of how much you want to spend and the quality of the sound you want to hear.

My suggestion is that if you just want to hear " you've got mail".. etc.. just get some cheap speakers and you will be fine.

Please take a moment to rate this solution...

Thanks,

V2DP Video Stopped Working

It is not possible to disable the onboard video but, if you install an AGP 4X video card (Brown slot) the BIOS will automatically give priority to your new card.

Remember to remove the power cord before installing any card because the motherboard is still powered even if the computer if off.

Tops blown off

This isn't going to solve your issue, but my opinion is that if even if your computer is still running it is still an issue that they should look at especially if the board is still under warranty. I wouldn't say a thing about the computer still being able to run, especially if they will warranty it.

I have seen capacitors burn up, but not the tops blowing off. Even though the board is still working you may have a feature of some sort out, such as you onboard video or something. I almost bet that something is still wrong, and it would be a matter of time before you have more issues.

Monitor does'nt respond

It is on it's way out, I just had a viewsonic go into a similar downward spiral. If you are still covered under the waurantee call them, as it will only get worse with time. If you have another monitor, try swaping it out to make sure. Mine went downhill over a period of a month or so. To where I would have to put the connector in and out several times, when I called they knew exactally what it was, good luck
