is this a recent problem? as in you have put cd's in before? if this is the case the disk sensor may be dirty or thinks it has a disk in it already. hit eject a few times and see it it dose anything, if not use a pen to reset it to factory settings and reboot it's self, worth a shot...

some dvd players wont play burnt ones dont stress there is nothin u can do

To answer your question;
You do not need to connect that wire but you need to bypass the parking brake function in the menu.
Here`s the parking brake bypass procedure:
1: Go into AM/FM mode
2: Hit "setup" on the remote control
3: Enter 543210 on the remote, listening for the beep for each number entered
4: A new menu will appear. Touch the button that has the hammer/screwdriver on it in the upper left-hand part of the screen.
5: Select Brake bypass to "ON" and hit the "X" near the bottom of the screen.
6: Use the unit wisely and above all safely. A ticket is one thing, causing a fatal accident due to negligence is another.

Real easy. Put in a cd, hit setup on your remote. When the setup screen shows up, pressz 5,4,3,2,1,0 should come up with hiddend display to change DVD region Codes, Bypass your Parking Brake lock, and tft screen test (don't use tft screen test) it's a pain in the arse to shut it off.

let's try this. If you don't feel uncomforatable about taking your system apart that is what I am wanting you to do. Take the radio apart and check all of the connections. I feel that the ribbon wire could be one of two things either damaged or has just come loose. As you put the system back in to the car make sure that you double check all of the connections to make sure that you are not missing anything. Let me know if this works.

You must give that player for servicing.

it needs to be serviced by jensen or some other repair facility. there is nothing you will be able to do to get the knob to work. if it plays cd's and not dvd's thats also an issue that you can't fix by yourself. if it doesn't play cd's or dvd's then you can TRY to run an optical cleaner through it. its a cd player cleaner kit you can get at most electronics stores.

The second thing to do is get the right wiring harness at www.installer.com or www.crutchfield.com or other such places. (Or if you have technical skills with wires and soldering iron you can make your own wiring scheme from the wiring information at installdr.com)

Get the connection cords at wal mart or radio shack.

Please follow this installation (wiring Guide) here. and as I recommended, consider its wiring herness.

you need rca cables, an amp kit from your local audio shop(or walmart). make sure you know which wire is the remote from your radio as it will need to connect to the remote on your amp. most radios have the wiring diagram on top of the radio. Ground(black)/Power(from battery) and remote(typically blue from stereo.
