Jenn-Air JMV9186WS Microwave. I was replacing the vent grill and touched something behind the white cam that rotates when microwave is on and it blew. It has no power now. What could be done?

Question edited for clarity. Question moved from Laundry Dryers. Check the circuit breaker or if it has a 13 amp UK plug, check the fuse inside the plug. There may be a fuse on the the control board, but getting to it is not safe. https://www.fixya.com/support/r29874712-repairing_microwave_ovens ..

Jennaire Microwave JMV9196CS-3 Book says the grease filter is on the bottom of the oven. There are two lights covered by a glass panel. How do I get to the grease filter?

The grease filter is in the center between the lights. See the interior and ventilation diagram available here: https://www.searspartsdirect.com/model-number/jmv9196cs3/1266/0123370.html . However, you might have this: https://www.partselect.com/Models/JMV9196CS3/Sections/04-Interior-And-Ventilation-Parts/?ModelID=7548870&ModelNum=JMV9196CS3&mfgModelNum=&ManufactureID=1&Selected=0794E2BFBF59CB9582BAA592BE0124B3C5F48AE9.gif&Position=4&mfg=Maytag&Type=&Mark=4 . The base (33) is secured by the door hinge (part 32). I'd suggest you try pushing up on the sides of the base and seeing if it will then rotate down. Unfortunately, I don't see any details about Jennaire microwaves with this type of base. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

I would click on Jenn Air or call 1-800-JENN-AIR (536-6247) and ask for a replacement recommendation and a copy of old installation instructions for planning with designer or installer. They have access to records if anyone does and an interest in serving you. Alternatively, talk to another seller and discuss installation. they will also want to help. Microwave makes noise after door is opened jenn air model jmv9169ba

Microwave ovens emit powerful radio waves and in general for safety reason should only be used when in perfect working order. It usually costs more to repair an older microwave oven than to simply replace it. Suggest buy a new one.

My JennAir went completely dead. It is probably 13 years old. Should I replace or have someone try to fix it?

Hello - I cannot give you instruction on how to remove the kit(?) surrounding your microwave. I can provide you with information which may help you decide if arranging for an repair technician authorized to service your JennAir microwave is the best option compared to replacing it. I refer you to the information from Angie's List: https://www.angieslist.com/articles/microwave-repair-and-what-it-costs.htm Best wishes.

Jenn Air Built In Microwave JMC8127DDS - no power to the unit. I've removed all the screws I can see, but can't get the microwave to slide out to see if it is plugged in.

Be advised that they are heavy. You may need 2 people to check this. The bracket may have a lip on the wall section that you have to take the weight off of to move it.

Do you have the installation instructions that came with the oven? An electric oven requires a 220V circuit and the cable coming out of the wall you described is a 110 V circuit.

My jmc7000 jenn-air blew a circuit breaker. No

Yau say a few conflicting things. First you wonder if it blew a breaker, and then say you have power to the receptacle. If you have poer to your receptacle your breaker if not tripped. There are NO breakers Inside of the Microwave. Only 1 time fuses. So, if your init is dead it has probably blown a fuse inside of the unit. If that is the case. Probably shorted HIgh volt capacitor would be my first guess. If it is jsut dead. it can be other things than just a blown fuse. bad thermal protectors, bad low voltage transformer on main circuit board. Burnt wires. Anything that will cause it to lose power inside the unit. From bad parts to bad connections.

When you push cook time and a time, or just hit

Highly likely your microwave has "failed". Down inside the microwave is a part called the Magnetron. This is the part, (about the size of your fist), that makes the sound waves to cook the food. On some models, it can fail, whilst all the other stuff works. 3 possibilities: 1) You need a fuse replaced. 2) You need a capacitor replaced (That part "starts" the magnetron) or 3) you need a new magentron. In any regard, very often people will not opt to have it repaired, because the labor & parts can cost more than a new Microwave. God bless your efforts.

I want to bake a salmon loaf in a glass loaf pan

I have a Panasonic Convection Micro. Yes, If you are using convection you can use metal pans. Microwave energy cannot pass through metal pans so that is why it is not good to cook in them. It could also cause arcing or reflect the microwave energy bak to the mag and over heat it. So, when possible use corning ware or Pyrex when using the microwave

I have a Jenn-Air JMV9169BAS microwave that doesn't heat. I looked at other similar posts and have checked the capacitor and replaced the magnetron. I can't get the diode out to check it. I don't smel

It's really not safe to measure the voltage while it's running unless you truly have training and experience. The risk is not "radiation," but instead the high voltage (4000VAC) and its frequency, which can be instantly lethal. Microwave ovens do not contain or produce ionizing radiation as found in atomic or nuclear energy. That is just a common myth. Microwave energy is much like radio waves or light, and while it can cause burns, you'd likely pull away due to heat before much if any damage were done. The service manual (with installation instructions) is here: http://www.microwavecontrol.com/AMV1154_AMV5164_AMV5206_AMV6167_JMV8166_JMV8208_JMV9169_MMV1153_MMV4205_MMV5165_MMV5207_UMV1152_inst_sm.pdf When a high-voltage rectifier diode fails, it almost always shorts, which will result in a growling / groaning sound when trying to cook, but no heat. Ideally, this test should be performed on a high-voltage diode: 9v_battery_meter_test_hv_diode-bamrfjjfhaycgefspgj211on-2-0.jpg A good parts source is the Pros here. - William E. Parts model

The parts to fix this are indeed no longer available, but if you could live without the turntable by rotating the plate halfway as needed, you may be able to replace the antenna cover as long as neither the antenna nor the cavity is damaged. You can get a sheet of "universal waveguide material" and use the old one to trace and cut a new one. Sand the edges smooth. It's part number 40QBP1012 and you can get it from Sears here. If you decide to skip that and replace the oven, you can contact Jenn-Air with your model number and they'll be able to tell you if they make a "drop-in replacement model" for your oven. See Customer Care Jenn Air. Otherwise, they can tell you the specifications. - William E.
