Jaguar x-type radio problem

Since I know nothing about the radio on a Jaguar I thought I would not be able to assist on this one. However... I did find a link to the radio. http://www.the-colliers.net/docs/public/guides%20&%20manuals/Jaguar%20X-Type%202003%20Audio%20System%20Handbook.pdf Good luck. Semper Fi, Z

Radio changes stations by itself and volume goes up and down all by itself. just not working properly. whats going on?

My solution was just to buy a new wired remote on ebay for $50. That way I had the same dimensions for the cutout on my center console. Essentially the remote is a remove and replace item. I bought one in chrome and just traded out my old cover and bezel which was a grey plastic.

#1. Disconnect the main power to the JBL box.#2. Check the DB9 cable connections, spray with Contact Cleaner (Techspray T8-162210S) in the male & female terminals.#3 Use a toothpick to press a reset button located top left close to the DB9 socket on the JBL box. #4 Reconnect power a& test operation. • By no power do you mean you get no response from CD or radio out of the speakers when trying to use the radio? Should this be the case then I'd like you to check a few places.
  1. First look to make sure the wires in the back are not broke or the insulation has somehow been negated.
  2. Next is to check the power wires and ground wire. Look for an inline fuse anywhere between the battery and either power wires. One should always be installed to prevent a surge reaching the head unit so make sure to check for a fuse. Replace if blown with same size fuse, never bigger.
  3. Remove the face plate and notice the reset hole (last hole on the left) Take a pen or other pointed but not sharp item and stick it into that hole and hold for 10 seconded. Then retry.
  4. Make sure the contacts for the face plate where it hooks into the head unit are clean and don't have any grime buildup that would prevent any of the contacts from contacting.
  5. Next you can try removing all power wires and wait for 5 minutes and re-connect. Sometimes this will also reset the unit.
  • I know you asked for a manual. I don't have the exact one. I do have a similar one that I can offer. http://www.premiumleisure.com/Manuals/nov07/Hydro_Spa_JBL_Stereo.pdf
  • Your unit was discontinued and not made for long and this may be a part of why the manual is difficult to find... for free anyway it is. I can say I don't need a manual to help you determine why the unit is not powering on.
  • How are you determining has power but just not responding to the on/off button? A volt meter check to the wires perhaps at the back of the radio? If you get power to the wires at the back of the radio then double check your ground real well because if the ground is good then, at that point, the head unit is bad.
  • If you perform all the tests I stated above and still no dice then the head unit is bad. There is no "code" for the radio so that will not be a factor. It's really a process of elimination.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Regards, Tony

Im not get the face to light up at all the fuses

Check the white molex plug. +12v has to go to the yellow and red wire. The ground is black. If not at the plug make sure the yellow goes to a constant 12v source as that holds the memory of the black box Hope this helps

The head unit just stopped working, it does not

Do you have a remote unit? If yes unplug it. The black din plug at the back of the unit on the right. See if that does anything

I have a jbl mr-145

I have the same model stereo in a brand new hot tub that was having the same issue. To fix it all u need to do is pull the front cover off to access the pump controls and in there you will find a black box where a power cable runs yo the stereo. There are two screws that open a little door in the black box. In there you will need a small flat head screwdriver to move a redswit over to the 110 volts position. Turn the radio on and it should work. That black box just controls the power to the stereo.

My JBL Marine Hot tub Sterio quit working suddenly?

JBL is at best a low quality marine grade brand of stereo. It is now garbage. I have worked on hot tub stereos for many years, PolyPlannar is the only one that is any good. If it was bought 30 days ago, where's your warranty?

Jbl mb3319 siruis ready stereo wont play

A Subwoofer is very simple piece of electronics. Check all of your connections and your receiver's surround modes. You shouldn't need the manual to do a preliminary check on this. There might also be a problem with the subwoofer output on the receiver. Also use a tester to see if there is current on the wires coming out from the receiver. Try it with just one sub-woofer at a time and see what happens. You may not have the power to run them all or you may have a short on one. Also check the condition of the speakers themselves. Rats can eat into the speakers themselves and like to chew away at the wires. Weather exposure can also dry and crack the rubber in the speakers.
