#1. Disconnect the main power to the JBL box.#2. Check the DB9 cable connections, spray with Contact Cleaner (Techspray T8-162210S) in the male & female terminals.#3 Use a toothpick to press a reset button located top left close to the DB9 socket on the JBL box. #4 Reconnect power a& test operation. Check the white molex plug. +12v has to go to the yellow and red wire. The ground is black.If not at the plug make sure the yellow goes to a constant 12v source as that holds the memory of the black box Hope this helps

My solution was just to buy a new wired remote on ebay for $50. That way I had the same dimensions for the cutout on my center console. Essentially the remote is a remove and replace item. I bought one in chrome and just traded out my old cover and bezel which was a grey plastic.
