I have a Cricut expression 2. It turns on but I'm unable to get the home screen to come on. The screen just freezes on Cricut expression 2
- Turn on the machine, with no cartridge installed. Roll the Speed, Size and Pressure dials all the way down to the lowest possible setting on each.
- Grab the blade assembly with two fingers and pull the carriage gently all the way to the left. Behind where the carriage usually sits is a red button. Press and hold the button for three to five seconds and release.
- Go back to the three dials marked Speed, Size and Pressure, and roll each one all the way up and down three or four times.
- Press the Cut button, then turn off the machine. Let the machine sit for 15 to 20 minutes to clear the memory.
- Load a cartridge, turn the machine back on and try it out. If you are still experiencing problems, you may have a defective machine. Return it to the manufacturer with the original receipt.

Depends what you mean by small hills? Has the loco climbed these small hills in the past without problem? A one in twelve (one inch climb for every twelve inches travelled) incline is about as much as this loco could manage I imagine, and even less when loaded with box cars etc. Sadly the traction drive on these loco's seems to have a short life. I have heard that giving the loco a good firm solid whack down onto a hard surface may get the internal gears to settle down and get more traction. There's an average chance it might work. Do not attempt to open it up, this will create a real mess because it's just about impossible to get all the minute loaded springs back into their correct place.
Generic, All Around Useful Painting Tips...
When faced with an expensive Paintbrush with dried paint, don't toss it, Save It...
- Soak it overnight - Starting out with very warm Vinegar.
Now so it doesn't happen again...
- Clean well, Place it into proper sized Ziplock Bag & then put into a Pringles, or Coffee can, Then cap it with the plastic Lid.
When storing a partially used can of paint, instead of just putting the lid on it,
- place a sheet of plastic sheeting like Saran Wrap over the top, then press the lid on.
Instead of using the edge of the can to remove excess paint,
- find a large thick Rubber Band, or Tie a wire or Twine over the top and bottom, exposing it over the middle of the opened can. Now just use that to remove excess paint & it will fall directly into middle of can and keeps can clean.
If your painted project appears a little rough after painting...
- Don't use sandpaper or steel wool to remove roughness, that will leave scratch marks, even if gone over lightly, instead use Brown Paper Bag.
If going to apply new coat or 1st coat over metal,
- wipe down really well with Vinegar. This will help keep paint from bubbling, chipping, blistering or peeling away.
To keep paint brush marks from being noticeable, especially on furniture or cabinetry, or Doors,
- Use a product called Flotrol. This will eliminate streak and brush marks.
And one more tip
When needing to know what type of paint is on your project that you want to repaint...
- Pour some Vinegar on a cotton ball, then rub on the paint. If cotton ball has paint on it, it is Latex, Not Oil based.
