Good afternoon. I have N5810PRO

Hi, this is Robert with Geeks On Command computer repair. It's tough to say without doing a full diagnostic on your network, but... It seems like your N5810PRO network storage has some limitations when it comes to folder management from a connected computer. Here are some things you can try: Update to the latest firmware: Check if there is a newer firmware available for your device that may have improved the folder features. Use the file management interface on the device: Log into the web admin panel for your N5810PRO and see if you have more file/folder controls through the interface there. You may be able to create folders there. Map it as a network drive: Map the storage as a network drive letter on your computer (like drive X:). This may allow better drag and drop support. Just keep in mind there may still be restrictions compared to a local drive. Use a third party app: Some apps like NetDrive or WebDrive may provide better integration and control over sftp/webdav network storage devices beyond what your native OS supports. Check if the device supports FTP: See if your device has a FTP server option. Connecting via FTP client may give you better folder control than over http/https. Unfortunately it seems like some consumer NAS devices intentionally limit folder/file manipulations from computers for security or simplicity reasons. But trying the above may help improve folder management capabilities somewhat.

Anytime Organizer Problems

You could try using 'map network drive' to create a drive letter reference for your network file location. I don't know what operating system you're using, but you should be able to find this option in Windows Explorer.

Select a drive letter that you're not likely to use for anything else (such as X), and enter the path to the file you're trying to use.
( //<your server>/.../ ).

Once this is done you can refer to the file as X:/<your file name> instead of //<your server>/../<your file name>

I hope this helps, let me know if you need any more detail on this!

You need to right-click on any of the inserted photos when in edit mode. Go to "Background color" and choose from the palette. Here you can also choose to apply this colour to the rest of the photos in the chapter, or you can have a different coloured background for every photo if you wish.

I haven't encountered this problem myself, but maybe I can offer some assistance. Make sure that your computer meets all the requirements for the software (given on the box). According to the User's Guide (section 3-3), the following music formats are supported: mp3, wma, wav, ra. I recommend contacting Individual Software's technical support people. You have to register your product to be able to get help, but it is free and could be worth it: individualsoftware.com. From: 11407336.

Yes, it seems that SlideShow Expressions specifically has problems with some downloaded music files. You can read about it, and try to find a solution, at Individual Software's website (also try their free online technical support):

Can;t get the software to write the slide show to

Two things: 1. Make sure that you chose the writer drive (burn to DVD) and not "hard drive" in the options window that appears when clicking on "Produce" and then on "Burn to disc". 2. SlideShow Expressions can develop problems when the photos are too large and when the project your trying to burn is quite large as well. What is too large? I can only speak from own experience. I found that once a project gets into the range of 400 or more photos (total) my writer fails to write. (I've burned projects containing up to 388 successfully; photos at original size) However, this can be solved by resizing your photos. I have a project with 466 photos (10 chapters) that wouldn't burn to disc. I then resized the photos so that every single one was under 500 KB. It worked: burning is now successful. Resizing doesn't necessarily mean that the quality of your photos will drop. I used Microsoft Office Picture Manager and, really, visually there is no difference between the original photos and the resized photos in the slideshow project. Experiment with photo size. Maybe another size works for you. It is also known that chosing the archive option (having the original photos and music burned to the disc) can upset the burning process - but only really when it's a very large project. Also, you could be using the wrong type of disc. Try DVD+R.

Cannot get it onto DVD

Yes, use DVD+R. Make sure that you choose the correct options: After clicking on "Produce" and then "Burn to disc", take a look at the window that appears. One of the choices: you can either burn to hard drive or to the writer drive. Chose your writer drive and continue. Also, SlideShow Expressions can develop problems when a project is too big or when the photos are too large. What typically happens, is that the burning process stops at step 5 (the actual burning) and does'nt want to continue. If this is the case, experiment with photo size. I used Microsoft Office Picture Manager to resize photos. Resizing doesn't necessarily reduce the quality of the photos. There is really no visual difference between my original photos and those that feature in my slideshows. In my case I had to resize to under 500 KB, but then, my project was extremely large: 466 photos; maybe you don't have to go so low. Experiment with sizes. Don't give up; it's a really great product.

Need to start saving monthly .my work do not have a profident fund.can I become a member as an individual

Go to www.troweprice.com A Roth IRA is probably your best bet - up to $6,000/year max unless you're over 50, which has a $7,000/year max. Your investment earnings are tax-free FOREVER. Look for their Target Date Funds - pick a year when you'll be 70. They do the fund allocation and balancing for you -- on auto-pilot. Just start a $500 (or what you can afford) auto-transfer from your checking account and you're all set. If you can save more than that, you can also invest in any of their funds on an after-tax basis, including target-date funds.

Had no problem with slide show. Purchased music

Have you solved your problem yet?

I found the following information on Individual Software's website. Music files downloaded using iTunes are known to cause problems with SlideShow Expressions. Go to the following site for more reading; go to 'frequently asked questions': http://support.individualsoftware.com. I include some of the info underneath.

Why won't my music files work in Photo & Video Expressions? [SlideShow Ex. too, I guess]

Photo & Video Expressions is not compatible with audio files that have been protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM) functionality. Most audio files purchased online through Internet music retailers like iTunes, Urge, or Rhapsody are encrypted with some form of DRM. Similarly, audio files that have been extracted from a CD or DVD (the process known as "ripping") using certain media applications (iTunes, Windows Media Player, etc.) often have default settings that encrypt the files extracted.

There is no way to use DRM audio files purchased from online music retailers with Photo & Video Expressions. However, if you want to use music and audio files that you have extracted from your CD collection, then all you have to do is change the ripping setting in your media application before you extract the files to your computer.

To Change Your Ripping Settings:

iTunes

  1. Click Edit on the iTunes menu bar and click Preferences.
  2. Click the Advanced tab in the Preferences window.
  3. Click the Importing tab.
  4. Click the Import Using drop down arrow, and click MP3 Encoder.
  5. Click the Settings drop down arrow, and click the desired sound quality.
(NOTE: The higher the kbps (kilobits per second), the larger the file.)
  6. The Custom... setting allows you to adjust more specific settings.
  7. Click the OK button when you are finished.
  8. Click the CD title in the left pane of the iTunes window.
  9. Click the checkbox for each track to rip, and then click the Import CD button in the lower right corner of the iTunes window.
  10. Once the extraction process has completed, you can use these audio files in your Photo & Video Expressions project.
