Mice getting into passenger compartment of car
They are coming in through the air inlet for the heater / air conditioner. Check the cabin air filter, it is probably chewed through. Get a new one at an autopart store, then go to a hardware store and see if you can get a small piece of mesh that you can cut to lay over the filter without interfering with the installation or function or the filter. Then put it back in the car.
Why is it making a screeching/grinding noise after starting sporadically. It has also made the noise just after turning it off.
You will need to get a helper and get under the vehicle and touch & listen to the starter while some one else starts, runs the engine, and turns the vehicle off. Is the starter loose? PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO THIS SO NO ONE GETS HURT. If you determine it is the starter you will need to change the starter. Also many starters will have a solenoid right on this starter, in some cases this solenoid is between starter and the battery, follow the heavy cable (positive cable) that runs from the battery to the starter to determine the location of the solenoid. If the solenoid is on the starter just change the complete starter. If the solenoid is between the starter and the battery and the starter is determined to be acting this way then try changing the solenoid first. If it is not the starter you will want to check everything on the front of the engine, alternator, water pump, idlers, pulleys, ac pump etc. I hope this helps.

Wow, a lot of people have experienced the same problem as you. Look at:
http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion-t42005_ds511688 there are so many reasons why the engine stalls, 1st system to check is the ignition system, if there is no problem there, try to check the fuel system, then the EGR, and the last is the crank shaft position sensor.. RJ ( automotive engineering student). One guy said: " I was on the Hyundai Forum sight and found a person that after numerous attempts to fix the stalling problem, HE suggested they replace the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). They did so and the problem seemed to be solved. I am taking my 2011 Santa Fe in today for the same problem and will mention the TPS replacement. "
SonicPlug said: "Hyundai is finally acknowledging the stalling problem with a "Service Campaign Notification" AKA "Recall". I received a mailing and set up an appointment. Go to www.HyundaiUSA.com/Campaign929 for more information"
Why won't my vehicle start ?
Firstly I have no idea, have not been able to drive since 97 when cars to me were simpler, from now on I am just guessing.
Has it got an electronic control box if so then I wonder if it powers stepper motors which deal with its carburettor control these linkages could be stuck with gunge/oil so cut off fuel or air to it.
This time of year is good for electrical faults through damp and condensation so check any terminals for corrosion, distributer caps can need a wipe inside along with gently grinding off any hard build up on its contacts back to metal, if it has a cotrol box then check its plug (one I saw a long time ago was always getting wet from some back spray).
Or maybe like my old Cortina it has a timing belt that liked to break that will stop any engine!
Sorry I was not of any great help........
