Hello This problem is sometimes caused by a defective brake light switch. It provides power to the shift lock switch to enable gear shifting. There is a TSB for this issue so it can be fixed at the dealer for free. Thanks for using Fixya. Tracer

I would first try checking a few junk yards to see if you can find a new climate control panel, as if you buy them new they are crazy expensive and there is a core charge to go with them, to encourage you to return the old one to them for "Recycling" aka to be re-manufactured.
