Is there an updated driver

You don't really update the drivers for your monitor. If you want to update your video drivers. I'm guessing because it's a Compaq Presario PC that it uses Integrated Radeon graphics acceleration so to update those drivers go here. Once there you will need to select Integrated Motherboard Graphics in the first block. From there on I will need to know the exact model number of the Compaq PC to proceed.

Can i but a power

I believe that this site (fixya.com) is just a help site. I have found that in the past ten years, every TV set and computer as wll as several other devices have used the same type of power cords. If you have an older computer around, then the cord will fit most TV sets. You could drop by a computer fixet it store and they will either give you or sell cheap, (<5bucks) an old power cord. You could also look at the electronic store and find a usable cord that you can subs5titute.

Well i have no sound

The mistake most often made with this kind of problem is that people don't remember to plug in the sound cable from their computer to the monitor. You need a separate sound cable to carry the sound.

If it is hooked up, you can use the monitor's menu to check for proper setup.

Hyundai L19T lcd monitor. Monitor powers up but

Sounds like you have some bad electrolytic capacitors.
If you are tech savvy, open up the unit and look for capacitors that have bulging tops or leaking electrolyte / bulging at the bottom and replace any/all that look like this.
In most cases, this will fix you right up quick.
It's the right age for this to be the most likely issue.
The capacitors will be near the power input and the inverter stages of the circuitry.

If the speakers are built in, check that the volume on the speakers via OSD is not turned all the way down or off. Many monitors that have speakers have an audio amplifier as the sound output from computers is very low and requires a powered speaker system in most cases. They are designed to operate head phones only now a days.

I have a hyundai imagequest l72s 17 lcd monitor

You have already vrify that the sound card and setting in the computer is OK? You can try feeding the audio source from MP3 player to see if you will get the sound OK. If it still does not work, to fix the sound circuits will cost you more tahn a good set of powered PC speaker system, you may want to think about that first before putting money into this monitor.

When I turn on my monitor, it briefly displays the

This usually means the backlight has failed and it is not cost effective to repair. Some monitors with a faulty power supply will exhibit this fault too. If the power supply is external (a little DC "brick") Try and find a replacement with equal voltage and similar (preferrably more) current rating (e.g. 12VDC, 3 Amp). This can be a cheap fix - especially if you have a spare power supply lying around. Often many different monitors can use the same power supply, so if you have another dead one, or know someone with one, you can try that - the connector will even most likely be the same.

Thanks for responding...is there anyway

Well, in most cases, the only location where something can be loose where a user is involved, is the cable connection to the VGA or DVI card and/or to the monitor.

Make sure the pins are not bent.

There are no user serviceable parts on the monitor, in general.

Service should be sought out at an authorized Hyundai service center.

If within the warranty period, then you may be able to get it repaired or replaced for free.
If not, there will be a charge for the service, if the unit is even serviceable after a certain period of time
outlined by the service center.

Good luck on this .

If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on: Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/ Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.
