Your out of luck. That phone is using a Google operating system. It requires Google servers to activate it. It could be restricted for US use as well pointing to US Google based servers.
The easiest way would be to install activesync on a windows pc and synchronize your contacts to outlook/outlook express from the I-mate then sync them back to your Touch.
Install activesync, which your probably already have. If not, go here. Once you setup a sync profile (if you just got it) make sure contacts get synced. If you had it for a while, go to Tools>Options and make sure contacts is checked.
You must have Outlook. The when synced the contacts will appear in Outlook. Not sure if it works with outlook express, but you might as well try.

The simple solution is set up a Gmail account... Bellsouth will not let you send email unless you are at home directly connected to their server... because of spam issues. Do like I had to and just receive your mail from bellsouth but send replies from your gmail account or just use gmail all together.
