Rotate screen ipad lock
swipe up from the bottom of your screen, the button on the top right is a screen rotation lock, un click or click as needed for a screen rotation lock
Touch screen touches itself
Had the same issue with the touch screen of HP, so I disabled it using device manager. Mine is 4th item in "Human Interface Devices". See the image below.
Cursor jumps to corner of screen, is erratic
have you tried a usb mouse ?? as if that works it will be the touch pad is playing up. you can disable it and use a wireless mouse or usb one. as it would be cheaper then replacing the touch pad.
Image will not go from vertical to horizon when rotated counter clockwise as per the quick start instructions
Sometimes operating systems have glitches that updates can fix. Usually support can be found on the manufacturers website for ROM flashing and installing.
Alternative Android Rom versions are available online free but ensure you have the correct version ROM for your exact model. Even then risks prevail.
To install a ROM one typically connects to a computer, downloads the rom and follows the directions to a T, keeping fingers crossed St all times and still ship hattens!
One typical solution is to turn device off,
Hold both the power and volume button for up to two minutes sometimes until something happens and then letting go of the power button but continuing to hold the volume or vice versa, and can be either volume up or down and sometimes it's the home button instead if available.
This will either factory reset the device or put it into download mode where you connect it to your computer and flash install the factory or another Android ROM being careful to get the right ROM for the right device and for that installation not be interrupted for any reason.

We want to connect our hp slate 7 to our Sony
The Slate doesn't have any sort of video output. The only thing you may be able to do is run a DLNA server on the device that you can connect to watch videos.
