HP Photosmart 120 Digital Camera
You will need to use 2100 mAh or 2500 mAh rechargeable batteries, as others are not powerful enough. To format the card, look in the menu system (or, indeed, in the manual) for the 'format' command.
I have HP Photosmart R827 with the same problem.
memory cards can become damaged. this can be from removing it at the wrong time or a file become corrupted, it can wipe the format off the card. and will need reformatting. dont do this on the camera as it can put the wrong format on the card. doe this on a pc, it will probably say when you instal the sd that it needs formatting. click yes, a box will appear and have it all set out for you but don't click format yet, in the box where it says restore device defaults click this. and then press to format. this will put it as the best for any device its being used for. if you had anything on the sd card before it will not be there before or after the format. hope this helps.

Bad USB Port in Camera
With that amount of non-accidental damage, a replacement is the best option financially
Horizontal Lines through the photo
Horizontal may not be due to the CCD sensor. It can be due to the lens
itself. I swap lens from a non-working camera to replace the one with
horizontal lines. I found out that I was able to get the camera to work
to take great pictures.
