I have this PC (workstation actual), in my storage , retired it. nonpaged. ,, what does this mean? (RAM ERROR sure) bluescreen , my guess the BSOD , blue screens of Deathh? this means the OS has crashed from OS corruption, there are many causes of corruption. bad hdd tops list or virus infected or bad GPU video drivers bad too. what I do is run full HDD tests first. smart tests must pass if the OS still runs awhile, reload the OS or go to hp.com get the full diagnostics?

Using Computer Setup (F10)

You can only open Computer Setup by turning on the workstation or restarting the system. To access the Computer Setup Utilities menu: 1 Turn on or restart the workstation. Press the F10 key as soon as the monitor light turns green. 2 If you do not press the F10 key at the appropriate time, you must try again. Turn the workstation NOTE off, then on again, and press the F10 key again to access the utility. Select your language from the list and press Enter. In the Computer Setup Utilities menu, four 3 headings are displayed: File, Storage, Security, and Advanced. 4 Use the arrow (left and right) keys to select the appropriate heading. I have one too love mine, its now a server. the Z400 or z600 are even more cool,l best of the best. so did you just find these Enterprise workstation, its not a PC. its a work station, Ill explain it . this WS if reset or out of the box new boots to thin net. that means it boots from another server using the built in ethernet chip, PXE. and will not boot to hdd. by default , OOBE learn to use BIOS, the book on this great workstation covers that. you must turn off PXE first the set the boot order any way you wish. HDD, CD, USB drives, SD mem, and PXE (no dont) is the coin cell RTC new and fresh, most dont last this long and is job 1, after about 7 years old. (5 lowest) mine can boot to linux ubuntu 16 on USB stick or CD or DVD a fact and mine runs windows 10 64bit fast. An out of the box HP xw4600 has a NVIDIA Quadro FX1700 video card which uses a DVI cable. You have to make sure your monitor supports DVI. A WHITE connector is for DVI while a BLUE connector is for VGA. Some monitors have both while many older models only support VGA.

You should be able to get the pin outs and connector specifications from the HP website for that workstation model. Go to the service manual and it will have detailed information on what you need.

1) first of all u needed to connect your power cable to the CPU at the top of back side socket 2) now insert the VGA cable into the VGA(BLUE Colour) port 3) now keyboard .>. if your keyboard is PS2 then you have to insert the point in purple colour socket which is upper side to the VGA port (note: the box side should be face to left hand side) 4) now attach your mouse if it is USB mouse then just insert any of the USB port simply plug and it will start working if it is PS2 mouse then insert it right besides to the keyboard PS2 port same as u insert the keyboard wire.

Have you done ANY Updates, Upgrades? Have you tried a System Restore to a date before this issue?

First, be sure the monitor is connected, and powered. Sounds stupid, but I have had the problem.
Next, When you start it, do you hear one beep while the boot process is going on?. If no, the problem sounds like the motherboard. Are you comfortable taking the side off? We will be looking for any lit leds.

This being my first time, I am not sure of the protocol, But, give me
a little slack. I wil look in my service files for information on that
model.

Nothing to do with your problem, but you need to increase the memory to at at least 2Gb if you are running XP.

Let know what more info you can give me. Any thing abnormal helps.

AHCI SATA or USB controller. can install , AHCI Sata is a mode .you can set IDE mode and install Operating system

old post , error 917, sure, all do that when.... P23 wired cable fell off(or loose, its keyed) or wrong panel used, (hp makes many , only 1 works here) the offical, service manual covers all POST errors and is still free, to see at real HP at any time. Contact HP regarding a lease program. They will provide all new systems to your company, send technicians like myself to transfer all the data from the old machines to the new machiness, set them up inside your company, and pay you for your old hardware.

The issues is what raid is there, we cant guess. your windows XP is corrupted, as all are now. what's new there?

6 long beeps indicates that there is a problem with the memory, take them out, clean the contacts and the DIMM slots and reseat them.
Hopefully this will resolve the problem, if not new memory may be required

are you really running LINUX or did you join the wrong forum? windows. the drivers never need uninstalling just the HP application programs. so you do to Control panel then click, programs.... bla bla. unstall HP printer apps. done if linux tell the linux you are running ,its like 100s of distrubutions and times zillions of releases, like Red hat, or opensuse or Ubuntu, my fav. tell the helper what PC is this. xw4600a and what OS exactly.

Might corrupt file, you ever do a registry defrag or clear cache?
May help speed up process.
