Thermostat on hot point stove

Posted this several years ago. Don't know if it's the same oven. It's possible the oven sensor has gone bad or lost connection. Try cutting out the little plastic electric plug that connects the sensor to the oven wiring. Then hard wire it together with two small wire nuts. If that doesn't work, you will need a new sensor, as we did. But when we installed it, we used the little plastic electric plug to connect it. Two days later it started acting up again. The instructions said to hard wire it with two small wire nuts, but since it came with a plug it made sense to use it. Finally, even though it didn't make sense, I cut out the plastic plug and hard wired it. It's been about 3 years now and we've had no further problems. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THAT LITTLE PLASTIC ELECTRIC PLUG. YOU MUST NOT USE IT. HARD WIRE IT.

Old appliance serial numbers

The older appliances oftentimes have their serial numbers in strange places. For an oven, I would suggest the siding, the back (particularly in the bottom left corner or top right) and on the inside brim of the door. The only other place I have found a serial number was on the back on the top, under a metal plate. You can oftentimes go online or call the makers so find out where the number is hidden. For example, http://www.caesarsappliances.com might have where the serial numbers are online if you bought something there.

Oven ( with combined grill) is very smokey and smelly

Your oven is one of the most-used appliances in your home, and when you use it for preparing strong-smelling meals, like fish or for curing jerky for instance (I speak from experience on the latter), you can be left with an oven that emits bad smells into the rest of your food for weeks on end. You have a spill in the oven. Wait until the burners are cool to clean them only with warm soapy water (no chemicals) and clean inside the oven. Like a self cleaning oven, it's only at high degrees it will "burn" off the food spills and will cause smoke. Shop Appliances and Furniture for your home from Appliances connection online store.

My hotpoint openspace pyro oven trips the RCD for the whole house about 20mins into the pyro cleaning cycle and I therefore cannot use the function, which was a major decision in buying this oven. Ha

It sounds like it is drawing too many amps. The only way to fix that is to upgrade your wiring. If you do have the proper outlet then you need to check the wiring for a short, improper grounding or the breaker itself.
