I have a craftsman roof nailer with plastic cover
Best place for replacement parts is the address below.
Ez to order from and usually only takes 10 to 14 days to get the parts. Click on Hitachi logo then select coil nailers, then your model number. For local parts, look in the yellow page directory for fasteners. Fastener companies that sell nails and other supplies to contractors also have parts for Hitachi nailers. Check with several. Some will even repair the nailer for you if you buy nails from them.
Good luck.

It will shoot first nail
could be a few problems, the feed piston might be sluggish, the spring might be missing off the feed pawl, the collation of the nails or a bad coil of nails, the driver might not be retracting fully. Now for the way to check some of these. First look at the coil of nails and the adjustment on the magazine, the nails should pull freely off the coil. Next remove all the nails and using a block of wood "dry FIRE" the tool with the feed door open to check the movement of the feed piston, it should snap back and forth and if it doesn't that would probably be your problem, could be dirty/worn orings or debris in the air chamber. UNPLUG air hose and check for the finger spring that holds the feed pawl tight and check the pawls for wear and asphalt not allowing it to catch the nails. Lastly fire the tool and check the piston, did it retract fully allowing the next nail to advance? if not you would need to probably replace the o rings in this tool. Let me know if you need more assistance. And if I have helped you would you please vote accordingly, thanks
I have a 2 1/2
Several things to check. Could be caused by bent driver, cracked lower bumper or bad check seal. Remove the head and pull out the driver and cylinder. Examine the driver for bends and make adjustment or replace as needed. If driver looks good, look for cracks or missing pieces on lower bumper where piston makes contact during lowest position. If bumper is in good shape look for check band around outer lower part of cylinder. Check seal is usually black rubber band covering series of holes or could be oring instead of band. Replace as needed. If all parts look good, make sure that piston moves rather easily up and down cylinder. Replace oring to piston if piston drops down cylinder under its own weight. Good luck
Tool skips
Hitachi coil roofing nailer will skip nails if the piston oring is worn, the feed spring is weak or lower bumper is cracked. Easy to check. Remove nails and air supply. With side door open point nose of gun up then down again. If the piston moves up and down in the cylinder, replace the piston oring. If piston does not move and is in the up position, check the feed spring for tension. With air supply removed and door open, slide feeder back and press on feeder from door side to check tension. It should spring back to position against rails. If is feels loose, replace spring and retainer pin if the pin is worn. If piston oring is good, and the feeder has good spring tension, suspect lower bumper and the plastic part below the bumper called the "sheet". Remove head and pull the cylinder to examine lower bumper. Parts are available at www.toolpartsdirect.com. Good luck with your repair
How to adjust double shot for Hitachi nail gun
The condition of the driver oring is an indication of wear of all the other orings in the gun. Remove the nails and lightly tap the nose against piece of wood. If the driver drops to bottom of cylinder the oring is worn out and time for oring kit. Hitachi nailers are sensitive and will double fire if placing the foot against work then depressing trigger. Adjust the depth thumb screw several turns either direction then depress trigger and quickly bump gun against work. Good luck with your repair.
Nail gun will not fire
could be a jammed nail in the magazine nose area, bent driver blade or problem with the o ring being worn.
How to you replace the recoil spring, is there a
Not sure which model you have but there are usually screws on each side of the magazine where it is held on to the nose. Remove those screws and the one that holds the bracket at the rear of the gun body. Once you remove the magazine you should be able to see how the spring is held into place. If you have the model number you can find a tool diagram for it here;

Brad nailer has to be
Perhaps over-oiling? Oil accumulates sawdust, jamming the retracting hammer, leaving it in the down position. Try one drop, occasionally, just to keep the o-ring from drying out. Bathe it with a solvent to remove the oil and dust, (lacquer thinner works for me?) Just a guess, not much info to go on?
What causes it to shoot a double, or triple nail
Make sure that orings are in good shape, lower bumper not cracked, (no leaks and the driver/piston stays at the top position, if piston drops a little or all the way down with no nails in gun, replace piston oring). Also check spring tension for feeder and two check paws in the door (feeder tension should be firm ). Adjust the timing screw up or down one or two turns and test (timing screw at the top of safety foot, head of screw pushes on the firing valve ). Test for lower bumper cracked. Remove nails and leave side door open. Hold the nose of the gun against coiled air hose or thick rubber and press and hold the trigger. The piston will stay down against the bumper until you release the trigger. No air should leak out the driver path. If air leaks past driver suspect bad bumper. Test action of feeder piston. Remove side cover to feed piston and clean debris. With air disconnected, move the feed piston back and forward. There should be a little resistance, if it moves very easy, suspect orings worn. As soon as you connect the air line. the feed piston should move forward with force, note the position of the feeder. Now with air disconnected, place nails on the feeder. The first nail should be well within the path of the driver. If not fully under driver path suspect worn feeder / feeder retainer pin, or debris inside feed piston chamber preventing piston from full forward travel (debris from inside of the gun will enter the feed piston chamber usually broken bits of lower bumper). Replace parts as needed. Good luck with your repair.
N5008AC LEAKING AIR THROUGH
How often do you add oil to the nail gun? Add a couple of drops of air tool oil where you hook on the air hose. Your seals are probably dry, allowing air to escape past the o-rings. If that doesn't work you'll have to get a rebuild kit from your dealer or order it on line and replace your o-rings.
I buy an NV 83A2
The link below will take you to hitachi nailers. Select your model number and find the manual at the bottom of the page if pdf format. Good luck.

Remove the 4 screws and the head assembly. On this model the head valve is fixed but the cylinder moves and is spring loaded. Make sure that the cylinder moves slightly up and down freely. You may need to install a new o-ring kit if the old ones are worn or dried out.
