What video format is required
Check the specification of your MP3 player to determine thetype of video file format it uses.
Most common video files that MP3 players use are, AVI andWMV, there may be others such as FLV, MOV and DivX.
If your player cannot play a video then it is anincompatible video file format, then you need to convert that video file to aformat that your MP3 player uses.

My Hitachi dmp860 player displays
When you ripped them, you probably used Windows Media Player which will add copy protection by default if you don't set otherwise.
Either
- Re-rip as MP3
- Re-rip with copy protection off
It is easier to re-rip than to try to remove copy protection.

Music screen says 'File system
do you have all your songs back up (on PC or a CD)? meaning you can replace them right okay........
let the device drain the batteries and then charge / press reset plugged to PC via USB you should be able to see the files on device now if not you will be prompt to that the device is ready

I have had the same problem with 3 different units from Sam's Club.
I just talked to Hitachi Technical Support and they said a batch was shipped with faulty circuit boards. They will replace if you call 1-888-885-2782.
You will need the Serial Nember and will need to e-mail or fax them a copy of your receipt.
Everytime I connect my hitachi
Go to Settings->Tools->Format and do a complete format using the drive's own utilities. You'll lose everything on it, but you will unlock it.
