Hitachi LifeStudio 250GB Drive with Windows 7 Pro

In Windows 7 Pro: Before starting, make sure you are connected to the internet as Windows 7 might have to find the driver(s) online. Plug in to a USB 2.0 or 1.0 port (3.0 won't work) and let Windows find the drivers. Two autoplay windows will pop up. Close the larger autoplay window with the heading LIFESTUDIO. In the other smaller autoplay window, click on Start LifeStudio Now. A window will open up, click on Install LifeStudio. Follow the directions. You are ready.

Try a to boot with puppylinux life cd/ usb / dvd and in the life edition start a partition manager in the systemtools /utilities , there are differend life linux distros with much tools like also knoppix .
to see nice and easy the volume of lost partitions in the lost drive try always to format it again over the whole length in ??? the right ntfs or fat or ??? partition volumes again and again the used clustersvolume are usefull and important if you know them if it was beaten by a broken format because that can happen if you scares at the moment of the mistake and then its not be recognized in ?? Windows ??? or other Distro .

In linux photorec can be used BUT for the most peoples with Windows a advise to use 1 software from 1 company that have beautiful working software to do the job its called[ get databack ]

For Microsoft Windows distributions there are several options use an empty harddisk with a greater volume than the drive that will be read out where the data from must be collected. it can be a great job, most times you will have succes by that software .

More than likely the software is available at Hitachi's website, so check there or give them a call if you cannot find it through the website. They may be able to email the software to you or provide the link by email. If the software is licensed in some fashion, they may ask for the serial number of your external hard drive, so you might want to have that handy just in case.

Formatting will erase everything on that drive. If you can accept loosing that, do the format and see if it works. If it does not fix it, you need a data recovery expert. Few computer professionals can do that kind of work.

If you PC does not see the drive (assuming the PC has all the required USB drivers), then, 1 check and or subsitute the USB cable. 2. check the power supply/wall wart for correct power. 3. check the USB plug on the PC, try a different one if equiped. 4. the USB interface card in the external case may be toast. You will need to check or sub the interface to ensure that's not the issue. 5. place the drive in a different case with a different USB interface.

Don't worry, you are not doing anything wrong. There are two ways you can view the videos:

1. Select the video you want to watch and press space

2. Download the free VideoLAN player from it's official website:
After installing it, right click on your video and choose Open with and then

Let me know if this solution helped you fix the problem or if you need any additional assistance.
