Eject the tape on Hitachi VT-FX695. It stays on for about 45 seconds and will not eject and then powers off.
hi,
the door mechanism is may be gripped because of a small kick...
did you try to open the door with a full charged battery and with the wall plug connected too ? help it with a toothpick or the corner of a credit card...
if this doesn't work, it may be the motor that is dead, do you ear any little noise when asking the ejection ? if yes, it is the mechanic, if not, it is the motor or the motor driver that is dead.
cheers,
mich
I cannot see anything on the LCD screen or in the viewfinder. It doesnt record video but it recoreds audio
It sounds like the CCD or its circuitry has gone down. (CCD is the cell that receives the light through the lens and turns it into a picture). Only solution is a repair or buy a new camera. If it is still under warranty or very near it, take it back to the dealer, promise him you didn't drop it, and ask nicely for it to be repaired under warranty. If you are in UK, argue your consumer rights if the warranty has just expired - the consumer may reasonably expect an expensive device like a camcorder to last more than a year.

This won't be the youngest, so after all these years some belts or rollers are worn out. You can't replace those yourself. To repair it will take at least a few hours, so I think you better start saving for a new cam. The modern camera's don't have moving parts, ro they are supposed to live longer. They also have better recording quality and are much cheaper than the Hi-8 we used to buy. My TR-2000 from Sony has the same problem. Costed 1800 dollar almost 20 years ago.
I dorpped the camera and
This is usually caused by a failed component in the power circuit within the camera and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.
My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

I have the DZ-GX5020A DVD Cam....the disc eject
None of those options worked for me. I had to remove the single screw on top of the camera. Then slide the silver top panel forward to remove it. Then remove the dark panel where the screw was removed. Then you should see a small metal piece very close to the DVD door opening that is holding it closed. Slowly nudge it forward to unlatch the door. This allowed me to open the door to remove the DVD. Unfortunately I still have to do this every time to get the door open. I may try some lubricant on the metal to prevent sticking.
